"You should stop overthinking things."
Stuart nodded.
The next day at noon, Caitlin met up with Gordon to walk their dogs.
As soon as they met, Gordon asked eagerly, "So? Did your parents agree to let me through the gates of the Gonzales estate?"
His phrasing made Caitlin chuckle. "Yes, they agreed."
Gordon let out a visible sigh of relief.
That was good news.
"The date is set for next Saturday. Make sure you're well-prepared," Caitlin added.
Gordon nodded seriously. "Of course. I promise to be on my best behavior that day. I won't embarrass you! I'm aiming to get my official certification as soon as possible!"
Over the past four years, he had already learned all of her family's preferences from Caitlin.
So, he was quite confident about meeting the parents on Saturday.
Caitlin continued, "By the way, my maternal grandmother and my uncles are coming too."
???
What??
Gordon's mind went blank. "All... all eight of them are coming?"
That was eight uncles!
Facing such an intimidating lineup on the very first visit was enough to make Gordon panic.
After all, he had been a nervous wreck when he first met Norris alone.
"No, not just them," Caitlin said, shaking her head.
Hearing that, Gordon breathed another sigh of relief.
Thank goodness it wasn't all eight uncles.
Caitlin then added, "My eight aunts and thirteen cousins will be there too."
!!!!!
Gordon felt as if the sky was falling.
He knew he would have to meet the Richards family eventually.
But meeting so many of them on the very first visit... was something he had not anticipated.
He had assumed he would meet the Gonzales parents and grandparents first, and then go with Caitlin to Neon Spire to visit Hannah and the Richards uncles and
aunts.
The last time he had met Norris, Norris alone had managed to drink him under the table. With so many people coming this time, what state would he be in by the end of the night?
Gordon did not want a repeat performance of his public singing career.
"B-Boss," Gordon said, looking at Caitlin. "You're not joking with me, are you?"
"I'm not joking. When my grandma heard I was bringing you home to meet everyone, she insisted on
bringing my uncles and aunts et
to size
you up for me. So, you really need to be on your best behavior on Saturday."
"Okay," Gordon nodded, taking Caitlin's hand. "Boss, you have to back me up then.
You can't just watch me fight this battle alone."
"Don't worry," Caitlin assured him. "I'll play it by ear."
Only then did Gordon feel a bit of relief.
For the rest of the week, Gordon dedicated himself to preparing for the family visit.
For a first meeting, everything had to be perfect.
On Friday morning, Hannah and all eight of the Richards uncles and aunts arrived in The Capital.
Caitlin and her parents went to the airport to pick them up personally.
"Grandma! Uncles, Aunts!"
"Freya!"
Hannah was thrilled to see Caitlin and hurried over to her.
The grandmother and granddaughter shared an emotional hug.
Stuart quickly had his assistant take the luggage from his brothers-in-law, while Carey walked with her sisters-in-law.
Adelina smiled and said, "Carey, we all saw the video of Freya's proposal. Gordon is
quite handsome. He and our Freya make a good match."
Molly Archer added, "The main thing
is that he's willing to join her family. In this day and age, it's rare to find. man with power, status, and wealth who's willing to do that."
Hedwig chimed in, "Our Norris has met Freya's boyfriend. He said the man's character is quite good. I also heard that to test his character, Norris got him drunk on their first meeting!"
"And what happened? Did he get violent when he was drunk?" Stephanie asked immediately.
Jade Sinclair, Kelley, and the other sisters-in-law all turned to Hedwig, their faces full
of curiosity.
