Rowena gently touched the spot. "It's funny, you have a mole here, too."

Gavin chuckled. "Who else have you seen with one?"

"Ulysses," Rowena replied. "He has one in the exact same spot! Even the shape is identical."

"That's perfectly normal," Gavin said. "We're father and son. It would be strange if he didn't have one."

Rowena's eyes narrowed slightly.

The next morning, Rowena prepared a lavish breakfast. "Ann, today marks one month since you came to live with us. In the days to come, if I do anything that displeases you, I hope you'll be patient with me."

"Rowena, I'm the one who's young and foolish. You should be the one being patient with me," Ann said, standing up and forcing a smile.

"See? Ann is such a sweet girl," Rowena said, walking behind Ann and placing her hands on her shoulders.

Ann's hair had grown out a bit, just covering her shoulders.

Rowena casually swept Ann's hair aside. "The weather is getting warmer. Ann, I should take you for a haircut sometime."

As she spoke, Rowena's gaze fell on the back of Ann's neck. It was smooth, with no mole in sight.

People always said that fathers and daughters shared resemblances, but over the past month, Rowena had noticed that Ann and Gavin looked nothing alike. Their personalities were completely different, too.

Most importantly, Rowena remembered what Gavin had told her about his relationship with Amanda. It had been a shotgun wedding. A vicious woman like Amanda was capable of anything.

And so, a suspicion began to form in her mind. Was Ann even Gavin's daughter?

Ann could no longer stand Rowena's fake sincerity. She replied with a tight smile, "You don't need to trouble yourself, Rowena. I'll go get a haircut myself when I have time."

"Oh, listen to you, still so formal with me! But that's alright, these things take time. I'm sure one day you'll see me as your real mother." With that, Rowena produced a bank card. "Ann, this is a little something from me. From now on, your monthly allowance will be deposited into this account."

Ann took the card. "Thank you, Rowena."

"You're welcome. We're all family here."

That afternoon, Rowena met with Ransom and handed him two small, clear plastic bags. Inside each was a collection of nail clippings.

"Sis, what's this?" Ransom asked, curious.

Rowena explained her suspicions. "Find a reliable lab and get these tested. And remember, no one can find out about this until we get the results."

"Of course, sis. You can count on me," Ransom said, taking the bags.

Meanwhile, Caitlin was now two and a half months pregnant. She was carrying triplets, and her baby bump was already starting to show Norris and Celeste's wedding was in two days, so she, Gordon, her parents, and grandparents were traveling to Neon Spire for the ceremony.

As they were leaving, Beatrice fussed over Gordon, reminding him again and again

to take good care of Caitlin.

The elders of the Gonzales family were even more on edge. On the plane, they practically wanted to use the restroom for her.

When Caitlin emerged from the lavatory, she was startled to find Keira and Carey waiting on either side of the door.

"Grandma, Mom, what are you two doing standing here?"

Keira looked her over anxiously. "Freya, the first trimester is the most critical time. What if you tripped or bumped into something in there? Your mom and I wanted to be close by

Carey nodded in agreement. "Your grandmother is right, Freya. You can't be too careful right now."

Caitlin laughed. "I'm really not as fragile as you think! It's just a pregnancy. You don't need to be so nervous."

"Pregnancy is not that simple," Keira said, taking Caitlin's arm and gently patting her belly with a loving

expression. "And you're carryingnet

three babies! Little ones, you behave yourselves, okay? Great-grandma can't wait to meet you."

After a three-hour flight, the plane landed at Neon Spire Airport. Hannah was already waiting for them. Spotting Caitlin in the crowd, she waved excitedly. "Freya!I'm here!"

This was the first time Hannah had seen Caitlin since she'd become pregnant.
