Although Kimberly's family had once lived next to Xander's, the two families barely ever spoke. In fact, their disputes often escalated to the point of calling the police. Xander's parents were the absolute worst.
Elsa's eyes flashed with anger as she looked at Kimberly. "Did Gertrude and Caitlin send you here to tell me this?"
She couldn't believe it. She was already married to Xander, and still, Caitlin and Gertrude were trying every trick in the book to break them up. Was their own home life really so miserable they couldn't stand to see anyone else happy? It was disgusting. She had been living with the Forresters for a while now; did she not know what kind of people they were?
"No, what does this have to do with them?" Kimberly replied. "This is all me. My family used to be neighbors with the Forresters. I know what Xander and his parents are like better than you do."
There was another thing Kimberly found extremely odd. Xander and his parents were notoriously picky and looked down on everyone. Xander's mother, in particular, always boasted that her son would marry a wealthy heiress. So why on earth would someone like that allow Elsa into the family? It wasn't that Elsa wasn't good enough, but she was a far cry from a high-society heiress.
Elsa let out a small laugh. "Don't deny it. I know they're behind this."
Kimberly was baffled. She reached out and touched Elsa's forehead. "Elsa, are you running a fever? The last time I saw Gertrude was a month ago! And all she did was ask me a few questions about the Forresters. This has nothing to do with them."
Kimberly continued, "We were classmates, after all. I just don't want to see you get hurt. Do you have any idea how weird Xander's parents are? When we were neighbors..."
Seeing that Kimberly was about to stir up more trouble, Elsa's anger flared. "That's enough! My in-laws treat me wonderfully, better than their own daughter! Kimberly can you please stick to the facts and stop trying to cause problems!"
She wasn't an idiot. She saw how well her in-laws and Xander treated her, and she
wasn't going to let Kimberly's words plant seeds of doubt in her mind.
"Better than their own daughter?" Kimberly said in disbelief. "Really? Elsa, are you sure they don't have some ulterior motive? he Forresters don't do anything unless there's something in it for them."
Ulterior motive?
Elsa scoffed. "Kimberly, and you still claim Caitlin and Gertrude didn't send you? You're just trying to saye that Xander married me because used to be friends with Caitlin right? That he needs a shortcut to get to her! Let me tell you, Xander is not that kind of person! He married me because he loves me."
"Oh, so that's what it is," Kimberly said, suddenly understanding. "No wonder Xander married you. Elsa, please, just listen to me. Be careful. Otherwise, you'll regret this later when it's too late!"
"Why would I regret it?" Elsa stared at Kimberly. "Listen, marrying Xander is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I will never, ever regret it!"
