Elsa's father approached Grover. "Officer, could you tell me why my daughter would impersonate a cleaner to attack someone? And what's the victim's name? Our
family is willing to apologize and seek the victim's forgiveness."
Grover looked at him and replied, "I'm sorry, but we have a policy against disclosing
any information about the victim to the suspect's family."
Elsa's father pressed, "The victim is a woman, isn't she?"
Grover didn't answer, merely giving the man an odd look. What did the victim's gender have to do with Elsa's crime?
Seeing Grover's expression, Elsa's mother instantly knew she was right. She walked over, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Hmph! To put it nicely, she's a victim. To be blunt, she's the home-wrecking seductress who lured my son-in-law away! That shameless hussy, preying on a married man! I know my daughter. If that mistress hadn't seduced Elsa's husband and gotten caught, my daughter would never have done something like this!"
As a woman herself, Elsa's mother felt a deep, twisted empathy for her daughter. If her own husband were seduced by another woman, she'd lose control and want to kill them, too. All mistresses deserved to die. Every last one of them!
Grover frowned. "Ma'am, who told you the victim was a mistress? If you continue making baseless accusations like this, we can inform the victim and they can sue you for slander and defamation."
A nearby officer added helpfully, "Under the law, fabricating facts to slander
someone is a serious offense, especially when it's on record. And our body cameras are rolling!"
Hearing that, Elsa's mother, though furious, didn't dare say another word.
It seemed that shameless mistress had some connections. Otherwise, why would all these police officers be defending her?
Elsa's mother scowled and sneered internally. So what if she has connections? As if we don't! Elsa is Caitlin Gonzales's best friend! Just you wait. As soon as Elsa recovers from surgery, I'll have her contact Caitlin. When Caitlin finds out how Elsa has been wronged, she'll definitely stand up for her.
With that thought, Elsa's mother felt a sense of relief. She grabbed her husband's
arm. "Honey, don't worry. We still have Miss Gonzales."
The name was like a calming pill for Elsa's father.
*Clang-*
Just then, the doors to the operating room swung open. Caitlin walked out.
Grover was the first to rush forward. "Miss Gonzales, how is Elsa?"
"Her life is no longer in danger," Caitlin replied.
At the sound of Caitlin's voice, Elsa's parents were overjoyed. Caitlin was wearing a mask, so at first, they'd only found her familiar. But her voice confirmed it. It was her.
They didn't need to think twice. Caitlin must have heard Elsa was injured and came specially to save her. They were best friends, after all!
They figured Caitlin didn't know the whole story yet. They had to add some fuel to the fire. This was also the perfect opportunity, with Elsa injured to get Caitlin to give them back the luxury apartment she owed their family.
With that in mind, Elsa's mother hurried forward, grabbing Caitlin's arm and bursting into tears. "Miss Gonzales, I've been waiting for you! Seeing you puts my heart at ease. You and Elsa are best friends you have to get justice for her! It's all that shameless mistress's fault. If she hadn't intentionally seduced Xander, Elsa would never have lost her mind like this!"
