Wasn't Yara supposed to thank me?

What on earth just happened?

Amanda hadn't expected things to go this way at all.

"Mrs. Somerset, please, calm down! There must be some mistake! What do you mean, 'a life for a life'? I'm the one who saved your son! If I hadn't given you that Heartsteady Elixir, Young Master Somerset would've needed open-heart surgery!"

Ann's words only seemed to make things worse. Yara's eyes blazed with fury, and before anyone could react, she pulled a paring knife from her purse and drove it straight into Ann's abdomen.

The cold blade slid in with a sickening sound.

"You wretch! I'll kill you! I'll kill you! Go to hell!"

No one could have imagined Yara would come armed, let alone that she'd attack so suddenly.

Ann stared in shock, her eyes going wide as pain exploded through her body. She barely understood what was happening before everything went dark.

She collapsed to the floor.

Yara had lost all self-control.

Clutching the knife, she lunged at Ann again.

But Tammie reacted instantly, kicking Yara to the ground with enough force to knock her out cold.

The Gonzales family's security team rushed in just then, quickly restraining the unconscious Yara.

Amanda's face turned ghostly pale at the sight. She stared at Ann, sprawled and bleeding on the floor, paralyzed with fear. Not daring to move her, Amanda pressed her hands against Ann's wound and cried, "Ann, Ann, talk to me! Are you okay?!"

Keira was shaken too, but kept her composure. She ordered the butler to call the police and an ambulance.

After the call, Keira hurried to Ann's side, sobbing. "Ann, please, don't scare Grandma like this! What happened?!"

Ann was in terrible shape. Blood kept seeping between Amanda's fingers, no matter how hard she pressed.

Caitlin turned to a maid. "Quickly, get my medical kit from upstairs!"

Though Keira had already called for help, Ann's condition was too urgent to wait.

"Yes, Miss Freya," the maid replied, hurrying off.

She returned moments later, and Caitlin snapped open the kit, ready to treat Ann -only to be stopped by Amanda. "Freya, wait!"

"What is it, Aunt Amanda?" Caitlin asked, glancing up.

Amanda hesitated. "Freya, what exactly are you planning to do?"

"I'm giving Ann emergency care. She's been stabbed in the lower left abdomen, and it's critical. If we don't act now, she could die or she might even lose the use of her leg!"

Lose her leg?

That sounded ridiculous to Amanda. She'd never heard of an abdominal wound causing anyone to lose a leg. And as for life-threatening danger? That seemed impossible too.

Caitlin wasn't a real doctor, as far as Amanda was concerned. What if she made things worse and Ann died? After all, Caitlin had always been jealous of Ann- jealous of Ann's success. There was no way she'd let Caitlin near her daughter.

Amanda faced her. "Freya, sweetheart, I know you mean well. But we should really wait for the professionals. If we start messing around now, we could make things even worse for Ann."

She wasn't about to let Caitlin risk her precious daughter's life.

Keira was frantic. "Amanda! Freya is the most qualified doctor here! If you don't let her help Ann, and something happens-can you live with that?”
