Norris had no idea how to answer Celeste's question. He was a bundle of nerves, completely at a loss.
Celeste pressed on. "Nod if you like me, shake your head if you don't. Don't worry, Norris, I don't bite."
Norris forced himself to calm down, then nodded.
Yes. He liked her.
Norris wasn't sure when he'd started noticing Celeste, but he was certain of one thing: he liked her.
Seeing him nod, Celeste was a little surprised. "Seriously?"
"Yes." Norris took another deep breath, deciding to abandon his nervousness. He looked directly into Celeste's eyes. "I like you a lot. Would you consider being my girlfriend?"
"Are you asking me out?" Celeste asked.
"Yes," Norris confirmed.
Celeste smiled. "In that case, I'll have to think about it carefully. I'll give you my answer tomorrow."
With that, she turned and walked away. Heaven knew how nervous she was. Her heart felt like it was about to burst from her chest. It wasn't the first time a guy had confessed his feelings for her, but this time was different.
Norris watched her go, then took out his phone.
Celeste received a WhatsApp message. It was from Norris.
Just one sentence.
[March, I'll be waiting for your answer.]
Reading his message made her heart beat even faster.
She replied with a single word. [Okay.]
Seeing her reply, a smile tugged at Norris's lips.
For the rest of the banquet, Celeste was a bit distracted. She couldn't stop herself from glancing in Norris's direction. It felt like a feather was constantly tickling her insides, and she walked around in a daze.
"March," Caitlin said, grabbing Celeste just before she walked into a pillar. "Careful, you almost hit that."
Startled, Celeste clutched her chest. "Catie, thank goodness for you."
Caitlin smiled. "What's going on? You seem to have your head in the clouds."
"It's nothing, just thinking about a novel I was reading last night." Celeste waved her hand dismissively.
She was thinking, if she and Norris really got together, then Caitlin would be her... sister-in-law?! Oh my god! That was too exciting!
"Oh." Caitlin didn't give it much thought. "By the way, March, I might have to stay behind after the banquet to help my parents see off the guests. If you're in a hurry, you can head back first."
Celeste was staying with the Gonzales family, not at a hotel.
"Sure," Celeste nodded. "But I'll just wait for you, Catie. I'm not in a rush." "Alright then."
The next morning, the first thing Norris did upon waking was check his phone. WhatsApp was quiet. His chat with Celeste was exactly as he'd left it last night.
He thought for a moment and sent another message.
[March, have you made up your mind?]
Celeste saw the message the moment she opened her eyes. A small smile played on her lips as she replied: [Yes, I have.]
Norris quickly typed back: [So, will you be my girlfriend?]
Some things were fine being unsaid, but once that line was crossed, you became desperate for an answer.
[We can try it out for three months. If it doesn't feel right after that, we can go our separate ways. What do you think?] This was the answer Celeste had come up with the night before. The reason she hadn't replied to Norris right away was that she felt girl should be a little more reserved. She might be carefree most of the time, but when it came to important matters, she was quite reliable.
Reading her response, Norris was so excited he practically leaped out of bed, letting out a whoop of joy. "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
He had a girlfriend!
[Okay, I agree.] At this point, Norris's hands were trembling. [Can we meet for lunch then? I'll wait for you at the steakhouse in Central Tower. How about 11 a.m.?]
[Okay.]
Once Celeste agreed to meet, Norris immediately started preparing. He
ordered flowers, booked the
f
restaurant, and picked out a gift. This was their first date, and he wanted to make a good impression, hoping to make their relationship. official after the three-month trial!
After replying to Norris, Celeste was also looking forward to their date. She jumped
out of bed and began to get ready, trying on one outfit after another. Once she
settled on what to wear, she went to Caitlin's room.
"Catie."
"What's up, March?" Caitlin asked, turning slightly.
Celeste continued, "Catie, I won't be home for lunch. A few of my old middle school
friends are in The Capital, and they asked me to hang out."
Since she and Norris were just in a
trial phase, Celeste didn't want to make it public yet it would be better. to wait until their relationship was more stable. After all, who knew what could happen in the next three months?

"Okay," said Caitlin, who had just changed into her workout clothes to take Monday
for a run. "I can drive you there later."
"No, no, you go do your thing, Catie. I'll just have the driver take me."
