Beatrice never thought she'd live to see the day her son was the subject of a
romantic scandal. And the other person was Caitlin!
Incredible. Her Sweetie was absolutely incredible.
No one could understand how thrilled Beatrice was at that moment. After all, this was Caitlin! Her dream daughter-in-law! This was the kind of thing she only dared to dream about. She never imagined it would actually come true.
Beatrice let out a series of excited squeals.
Seeing her mother like this, Alaina cleared her throat. "Poise, Mother, poise! Can you please maintain some decorum? Look at you. Do you even resemble the matriarch of a prestigious family right now?"
Beatrice gave Alaina a meaningful glance. "When you've got a prize like this for a daughter-in-law, what's 'grace' anyway?"
Alaina was exasperated. "I've never seen such a hypocritical old lady."
Beatrice crossed her arms, her expression smug. "Well, now you have!"
Alaina was speechless.
After her moment of triumph, Beatrice looked back at Alaina and asked, "By the way, Alaina, is this news reliable? Is our Sweetie really dating Catie?"
Amidst her excitement, a sliver of worry crept in. What if it was all fake? That would be a huge disappointment. At her age, she couldn't handle that kind of emotional rollercoaster.
Alaina shrugged. "That, I don't know."
She paused for a moment before adding, "But where there's smoke, there's fire. If there wasn't something going on between our Sweetie and Catie, would this gossip

If there was no wind, the grass wouldn't sway. It was obvious there was something brewing between the two of them.
Beatrice nodded. "You're right, Alaina. Where there's smoke, there's fire. There must be something going on between our Sweetie and Catie."
With that, she leaned in to study the two photos on Twitter again.
The first one showed Caitlin feeding Gordon ice cream. Caitlin's eyes were crinkling with a smile, while Gordon looked at her with pure adoration. The scene was so perfect it looked like a shot from a romance drama. They were a stunning couple, a perfect match.
Beatrice's fondness grew with every second she looked at the pictures. She tapped the screen to save them. "Alaina, send me these two photos separately later."
She planned to print them out and hang them in the most prominent spot in the Sylvester family living room, so every guest who visited uld see what an outstanding daughter-in-law she had.
"Of course," Alaina agreed.
Beatrice beamed. "Look how beautiful Catie is. That face, those eyes, that skin... I
can't even imagine how handsome my future grandson will be!"
As she spoke, Beatrice drifted off into her own fantasy, as if she could already see her future grandson standing before her.
Alaina was exasperated. "Mom, you're being sexist. What if they have a daughter?" Beatrice looked at her. "Tsk, tsk. Granddaughter is better!"
