Carey was very pleased with the pairing.

She looked at Stuart. "You don't want our daughter to wake up to an ugly face every morning, do you? And then have an ugly child?"

Caitlin gave her mother another thumbs-up. "Exactly, Mom! You couldn't be more right!"

Stuart turned to Carey. "He may be good-looking, but didn't you say he's incredibly stingy? With a major flaw like that, how can he possibly be worthy of our Freya?"

He then looked at Caitlin, instructing her, "Freya, it's fine for you to date him, but whatever you do, don't get too serious."

"Dad, about the whole stingy thing, I need to clear this up once and for all. Gordon isn't stingy at all. He's very generous. What we have is a mutual, two-way street." Caitlin pulled out her phone and opened her PayPal app, showing them her transaction history. "Mom, Dad, look. These are all the transfers Gordon has sent me. I admit I like him a lot, but I'm not so love-struck that I'd send him money just so he can send it back to me to create some illusion that he loves me!"

Since her parents had a misunderstanding about Gordon, it was her duty to set the record straight.

She couldn't let them continue to believe a falsehood.

Stuart narrowed his eyes as he looked at the transfer records and attached photos.

The smallest transfer was a significant sum, and the largest was in the millions.

And every single transfer included a note stating it was a "voluntary gift." This was not the behavior of a cheap, money-obsessed person.

Initially, Carey had indeed suspected that Caitlin might have given Gordon the money beforehand. But today seeing the earnest look in her daughter's eyes, she completely dismissed that doubt.

"It seems we've misunderstood Vest all this time. He's not the person rumors make him out to be. Freya, finding someone like him isn't easy. You should treasure this relationship."

With this, Carey was even more satisfied with Gordon.

He had served in the military, was highly educated, and now stood at the pinnacle of

the financial world. Having a man like that by her daughter's side gave Carey a great sense of peace.

Caitlin nodded slightly. "I know, Mom."

Stuart looked as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he held his tongue. He simply turned to Caitlin and said "Freya, you're grown up now. We can't stop you from dating. But you're still young Always remember to be smart and carry yourself with grace."

Stuart knew his daughter. She had too much pride to ever debase herself for a man.

Since their feelings were mutual and Gordon had no major character flaws, he knew he shouldn't interfere too much. But as a father he had to offer a word of caution to prevent the young couple from making any mistakes.

Gordon didn't go back to Sylvester Mansion but instead drove to the apartment he often stayed at.

He had been home for less than ten minutes when the doorbell rang.

Gordon got up to answer it and found Will kneeling on the ground outside his door, a thorny branch slung over his back. "Master Ninth, I'm so sorry. I've come to accept my punishment."
