Yvette scoffed. "Our Miss Gonzales is modest and doesn't like to show off her identity. Of course, a nobody like you wouldn't know!"
Nicolette put her hands on her hips. "Exactly! Our Miss Gonzales is humble. She's nothing like you!"
With that, Nicolette strode over to Caitlin and narrowed her eyes. "Caitlin, you're finished. You've crossed Miss Gonzales. She could crush you like an ant! If you know what's good for you, you'll apologize to her right now. Otherwise, you're dead!"
"Actually, you should probably apologize to me and Yvette first!" Nicolette added smugly. "We're Miss Gonzales's best friends. If we put in a good word for you, maybe she'll forgive you!"
Yvette chimed in, "Nicolette's right. We're her best friends. If we plead your case, Miss Gonzales might be in a good mood and decide to let it slide. But..."
She paused deliberately. "Getting us to speak for you isn't going to be easy. You'll have to show some sincerity."
Yvette put heavy emphasis on the word 'sincerity.'
Having said their piece, Yvette and Nicolette looked down at Caitlin with an air of superiority.
Just wait for it.
Caitlin was about to beg them for forgiveness.
The very thought of Caitlin apologizing to them sent a thrill through Nicolette and Yvette. They had been sucking up to Charis all day; it was finally their turn to have someone suck up to them.
It felt exhilarating.
"You two," Caitlin said, still sitting casually in her chair, legs crossed and leaning back like a boss. Her lips curved slightly, her voice laced with ice. "Kowtow to me."
"Kowtow? What's wrong with you? Caitlin, are you insane? Why would we kowtow to you?" Yvette frowned.
This Caitlin was infuriatingly stubborn! Anyone else would have apologized by now. It was like she had a death wish.
Clearly, she still didn't understand the consequences of offending Miss Gonzales.
"You can ridiculously demand I apologize to Charis, so why can't I ridiculously demand you kowtow to me?" Caitlin's smile widened. "Who
knows if you two impress me, might consider granting your little wish."
Yvette was practically fuming. She pointed a finger at Caitlin. "Fine, fine! So you won't apologize? You're determined to make an enemy Miss Gonzales, is that it?"
Caitlin couldn't be bothered to respond, not even sparing them a glance.
Yvette stomped her foot in frustration. "You'll regret this! Just you wait! Miss Gonzales won't let you get away with this."
After her threat, Yvette glanced at Charis's empty bed, then turned to Nicolette. "Let's go!"
"Okay." Nicolette quickly followed her.
As soon as they left, Elsa scrambled down from her bed and rushed to Caitlin's side. "Catie! What are we going to do? Charis is Miss Gonzales she decides to come after you, how are you going to fight back?"
Caitlin offered a faint smile. "Do you really think she's Miss Gonzales?"
"Isn't she?" Elsa asked, momentarily confused.
Caitlin replied, "The real Miss Gonzales wouldn't have such poor manners."
Gertrude chimed in, "Actually, compared to Charis, I think Catie seems more like Miss Gonzales."
