Chapter 1504:
As Corrine entered the company building, she immediately spotted Natasha. Given the visibly upset expression on her face, Natasha had clearly seen the earlier exchange between Bruce and Corrine at the entrance.
Inside the elevator, Corrine glanced sideways at her and couldn’t help but tease, a glimmer of amusement in her eyes. “Your pout looks like it could hold a teapot.”
Natasha reflexively touched her lips, surprised at her own transparency. Before she could say more, Corrine asked, “Did Bruce ever do something to you? Or is this just a long-standing grudge?”
“It’s more like a natural aversion,” Natasha responded with a scoff, her gaze sharp with scorn. She found even the mention of Bruce repulsive but didn’t hold back in her condemnation. “There he was, at the company entrance first thing in the morning—like a wolf in sheep’s clothing! He left you coldly at the altar, and now…”
“Armed with the knowledge of who you really are, he pretends to profess deep love. No doubt, he picked up that trick from Leah.”
When Karina revealed how Bruce had abandoned Corrine and how the Ashton family had exploited her, Natasha’s disdain for the Ashton family deepened significantly. Having dealt with many unsavory characters in her life, Natasha was still shocked by the brazenness of the Ashton family.
They maintained the facade of a noble lineage while engaging in loathsome behavior. They had exploited Corrine ruthlessly while holding her in contempt, a display of absolute shamelessness.
“They’re all the same!”
Hearing Natasha’s biting critique, Corrine couldn’t suppress a laugh. “You really are my best friend, always right in tune with me.”
Natasha raised her head proudly. “Naturally, that’s what any good friend would do.”
Leaving the elevator behind, the two of them walked side by side into the CEO’s office.

By eleven o’clock, Corrine had wrapped up her morning tasks at the office. She gathered her things, intent on meeting Nate for lunch.
On the way, she called Nate but discovered he wasn’t at his company today. Redirecting her drive, she headed for Celtis Estate.
Half an hour later, Corrine arrived and was promptly escorted by Tanya to the estate’s back garden.
From a distance, Corrine noticed smoke rising into the sky. Through the haze, she caught sight of Nate, Moses, and Zack seated in wicker chairs under the shade. Moses stood by the grill, moving with practiced ease as he arranged the ingredients.
Upon spotting Corrine, Moses enthusiastically waved a skewer in the air to greet her. Unfortunately, in his zeal, Moses splashed Zack with oil.
Zack jumped up, brushing the oil off his clothes, a cigarette hanging from his mouth as he grumbled, “Moses, damn you! I just bought this shirt, and it’s the first time I’m wearing it!”
“It’s only a shirt. I’ll get you another,” Moses replied with a laugh, dismissing the mishap. “Cursing at me won’t clean it.”
Zack managed a laugh despite his irritation, flicked his cigarette away, and stood up to change his shirt.
