Chapter 1526:

Corrine turned to look at her.

Karina’s lips formed a silent message, directing Corrine’s attention across the room with a subtle gesture.

Through the dimmed lighting opposite the catwalk, Corrine spotted a woman seated alone, her figure barely distinct in the shadows.

The woman possessed shoulder-length hair, and while not strikingly beautiful, her delicate features and clear gaze radiated a gentle warmth—like sunlight filtered through spring leaves—instantly putting others at ease.

The woman sensed their gaze, her eyes meeting Corrine’s in that curious way. Karina leaned close, her whisper barely audible. “That woman is our client this time.”

Hearing this, Corrine offered a measured smile—polite yet reserved.

The woman returned the gesture before shifting her attention back to the runway display.

After the show concluded, Karina disappeared backstage to handle payments while Corrine waited quietly in a corner.

“Miss Holland?” A slightly husky voice called from behind.

Corrine pivoted to find herself face-to-face with the very client Karina had pointed out, now standing within arm’s reach.

She attempted a proper greeting but faltered, realizing the woman’s name remained a mystery. After a heartbeat’s pause, she simply offered, “Hello.”

Perhaps swallowed by the venue’s lingering commotion, her greeting went…

Unacknowledged, the woman’s gaze remained fixed on the abandoned runway. “Miss Holland, do you also like this brand?”

“It’s a nice brand.” In truth, Corrine harbored little passion for such conceptual extravagances.

She approached fashion not through the lens of prestigious labels but through a pragmatic filter of what complemented her essence and form.

“The theme is Love’s Prison,” the woman continued seamlessly, unperturbed by Corrine’s tepid response. “Love should be based on mutual understanding and attraction. If it’s a love without future, the constant entanglement would be like imprisoning each other in a self-made cage, wouldn’t it?”

Corrine frowned slightly.

She sensed hidden meaning in the woman’s words.

Just then, Karina rushed over, exclaiming, “Miss Hamilton!”

Amelie Hamilton’s lips curved into a practiced smile. “Miss Brooks, I have some pressing matters to attend to, so I must take my leave. I shall anticipate your visit tomorrow.” With that, she turned and left.

Watching her elegant silhouette disappear into the crowd, Karina nudged Corrine’s arm. “What were you two discussing? Why did she leave the moment I appeared?”

It wasn’t mere paranoia on Karina’s part. Amelie’s behavior carried an unmistakable air of secrecy that justified suspicion.

“Just exchanged a few thoughts on the show’s theme,” Corrine murmured, her gaze deliberately shifting away from Amelie’s retreating figure. “Shall we go? We have that appointment tomorrow, correct?” The reminder jolted Karina back to the present. “Right.”

As they left the venue, they passed a Bentley.

Inside, Amelie observed Corrine and Karina’s car disappear down the street, her eyes glittering with a predatory coldness that belied her composed exterior. “Do not concern yourself. I know precisely what I am doing.”

Whatever the voice on the other end of the phone conveyed caused Amelie’s lips to curl into a sinister smile. “This world brims with unfortunate accidents. If something were to happen, it would merely be Corrine’s… misfortune.”

The following day, Karina and Corrine arrived at their destination, clutching an exquisitely wrapped gift.

“Good morning. We are representatives from the Redamancg brand. We have a scheduled appointment with Miss Hamilton.”
