Chapter 1676:
“No way, really?”
This establishment operated on an exclusive membership system, issuing only a limited number of VIP cards each year. As a result, anyone dining here was guaranteed to possess either exceptional wealth or considerable influence.
Yet, despite the elite status of the guests, even they couldn’t suppress their astonishment at Nate’s effortless display of opulence. His attire alone was enough to command attention and admiration.
Corrine and Nate paid no mind to the murmurs around them.
She lifted her crystal glass of lemon water to her lips, took a delicate sip, and glanced at her phone screen. “I’m going to the restroom.”
“Alright,” Nate replied, his attention still on the room around him.
After she left, Nate sat alone at their table.
Ten minutes passed, yet there was still no sign of Corrine’s return. A shadow of concern crossed Nate’s face. He picked up his phone and dialed her number.
The connection rang persistently before Corrine finally answered.
“Are you feeling unwell?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.
“No.”
Through the line, Nate could hear her distracted tone. She partially covered the phone, whispering to someone nearby. After a brief delay, she returned to their conversation. “I have something to handle here. Give me ten minutes, just ten minutes.” Without waiting for a response, she abruptly ended the call.
From the rushed tone in her voice, Nate could sense that her attention was elsewhere. Her mind was clearly divided, distant from him.
As the call disconnected, Nate’s face clouded with frustration. It was the second time Corrine had ended their conversation abruptly today. Irritated, he tossed his phone onto the table and took a long drink from his glass.

At that moment, he heard footsteps approaching.
“Hey there, handsome. All by yourself?” A woman walked over with a beaming smile and tried to slide into Corrine’s seat.
Nate’s expression grew colder, his eyes sharpening as they fixed on the woman attempting to sit down. “That seat isn’t available for you.”
Her breath caught under his intense stare, and it took her a moment to gather herself. She returned his gaze flirtatiously. “Then, where should I sit? In your lap?”
With a blank expression, Nate’s lips twitched slightly before he coldly dismissed her. “Please leave.”
The smile dropped from her face.
Embarrassed and annoyed, she snapped, “So charmless. No wonder you’re left here alone!”
Nate’s gaze intensified as he fixed his eyes on her.
If looks could kill, that woman would’ve dropped dead on the spot.
Choosing not to stay another moment, the woman quickly averted her eyes, hiding her discomfort, and made a swift exit.
Nate clenched his glass, the veins in his hand subtly visible. He paused for a long moment before taking another gulp of water, the woman’s accusation echoing in his mind. “So charmless. No wonder you’re left here alone.” Could it be that Corrine had left him thinking the same?
