Chapter 246:
Bella had left a lasting impression—gracious, approachable, and genuinely kind.
Even when Bella learned of Sonya’s more modest background, she didn’t pull away. Instead, she treated Sonya like an equal, befriending her without hesitation. But in the whirlwind of visiting the Harris family, that connection had slipped Sonya’s mind.
Now, with tempers flaring and accusations flying, the thought resurfaced.
Acting quickly, Sonya retrieved Bella’s number and sent her a message detailing the situation.
Miles away, Bella reclined lazily on her sofa, scrolling through her phone. The message startled her upright. Could this be true? Had Sonya and her parents visited Yelena, only to be mistaken for con artists?
But they seemed unaware, thinking it was Yelena who drove them away. Bella hesitated, unsure how much Sonya really knew. Choosing her words carefully, she replied, “Sonya, I’m so sorry—I wasn’t home and didn’t know about this. Are you all okay? I can’t imagine my sister acting like this, especially knowing what you’ve done for her. After all, you were her family for so many years.”
Sonya’s jaw tightened as she read the reply.
So it was Yelena! That shameless girl had refused to even acknowledge the family that raised her!
Sonya marched into the living room, thrusting the phone toward Tatiana.
“Mom, look! It’s Yelena. She’s the one who turned us away. That brat didn’t even bother to see us!”
Tatiana snatched the phone, her lips curling into a sneer.
“Ungrateful little wretch! We gave her everything—our time, our food, our love—and this is how she repays us? If we’d known she’d turn into this, we’d have left her to fend for herself long ago.”

Jonathan crossed his arms, his expression grim.
“We raised her well. We sacrificed for her, and now that we need help, she won’t even acknowledge us.”
The Roberts Group could’ve been saved if the Harris family had a shred of decency.
But no, as if raising Yelena wasn’t enough.
Not only were they left unsupported now, but it felt as though the Harris family was kicking the Roberts family while they were down.
To Tatiana, it was all clear now. Yelena must have turned her nose up at them, emboldened by her return to the wealth and prestige of the Harris name.
“Sonya! Stay close to Bella. Keep her on our side. We need to gather information, and if possible, secure her help,” Tatiana said with measured seriousness, her tone laced with urgency.
This was a delicate matter—they couldn’t let an opportunity like this slip through their fingers.
Sonya nodded firmly, understanding the gravity of her mother’s words. “I’ll handle it, Mom.”
Wasting no time, Sonya composed a carefully worded reply to Bella:
“We never meant to cause trouble. Honestly, we were so happy to hear that Yelena found her real family. It’s just that, after all these years, we felt like family too. My parents only wanted to visit, but her reaction… it was so cold. They’re heartbroken.”
