Chapter 329:

Donovan’s teasing demeanor shifted to genuine surprise. “Me? She does realize you’re the prodigy everyone talks about, right? Why not go straight to the best?”

Yelena sighed, her voice carrying a mix of amusement and resignation. “She doesn’t know about me being a doctor, and I want to keep it that way. Just this once—help me keep a low profile.”

Donovan’s silence stretched for a moment as he considered her request. The procedure itself wasn’t challenging, but Yelena’s reluctance intrigued him. She was the type of surgeon who thrived on complexity, tackling cases others wouldn’t dare approach. He still remembered the first time he’d seen her work—her precision and calm under pressure had left him and his team in awe.

For Donovan, Yelena asking for his help felt like a rare honor.

“Alright, I’ll do it. Bring her in tomorrow, and I’ll bump her up the list.”

Meeting Donovan was a privilege few could attain, given how elusive his time had become.

Yelena exhaled in relief. “Thank you, Donovan. I owe you one. If you ever need anything, just ask.”

“Of course!” Donovan agreed without hesitation. After all, a promise from Yelena carried a value beyond measure.

The following day, the Harris family accompanied Katelyn to the hospital to show their support.

Callum even postponed his work and made time for his sister.

With her family by her side, Katelyn felt a flicker of reassurance amid her nerves.

Yelena, however, had no time for the usual bureaucracy. Skipping the registration desk entirely, she strode with quiet confidence straight to Donovan’s office.

There was no appointment on record, no formalities observed.

Donovan had already cleared his break to accommodate Yelena’s request—something he rarely did.

Bella, curious and skeptical, had insisted on tagging along. She couldn’t fathom how Yelena planned to circumvent the hospital’s infamously rigorous system.

Yet when Yelena breezed past the reception desk and approached Donovan’s office directly, Bella’s doubts turned into sheer astonishment.

Even more surprising was the nurse’s reaction. Instead of questioning their presence, the nurse greeted Yelena with a polite smile and opened the door for them. “Dr. Salazar is expecting you,” the nurse said with a respectful nod, as though welcoming royalty.

The rest of the Harris family members exchanged baffled looks.

The stories they’d heard of Donovan’s packed schedule painted him as practically unreachable. Yet here they were, ushered in like honored guests.

Inside, Donovan stood with one of his students, poring over a patient file. The moment he spotted Yelena, his expression transformed. His face lit up with an unmistakable smile, one reserved for a dear friend. “Yelena, there you are!” he greeted warmly, his tone filled with a blend of surprise and joy. “It’s been too long.”

“Indeed. I trust you’ve been keeping well,” Yelena greeted, her voice polite but calm. The room fell silent in shock.

The Harris family had never imagined that Yelena and Donovan shared such familiarity.

It explained her unwavering confidence in bringing Katelyn here without an appointment—it was clear they had a significant connection.

Donovan smiled briefly, wasting no time. “I am, indeed. Now, who’s the patient? Let me have a look.”

Katelyn, still reeling from the unexpected privilege of meeting Donovan, quickly handed over her medical records. Her hands trembled slightly as she passed them to him, overwhelmed by gratitude.

Donovan scanned the reports with practiced efficiency before offering her a reassuring nod. “You’ve caught this in time. There’s no need to worry.”
