Chapter 870:
Dina led Jarvis all the way to his room.
Jarvis faced Dina, annoyance flickering in his gaze. “Mom, what’s this about?”
“I’ve noticed you’ve been close to Bella lately. You should stop it,” Dina stated sharply.
Surprise and guilt flashed across Jarvis’ face. Did Dina know everything, or just bits and pieces? Why would she bring it up now? Was she speculating things?
Jarvis chose to feign ignorance. “Mom, I have no idea what you mean.”
Dina’s expression hardened. “Really? You don’t know what I’m talking about? Let me be clear then. Though Bella isn’t related to the Harris family by blood, your grandma…”
“Still, she sees her as a granddaughter. If she found out her own granddaughter and grandson got together, what do you think would happen? She would be furious! Do you think your father would stand by you?”
Jarvis broke out in a cold sweat. Dina’s words struck a chord. These fears had kept him from revealing his feelings for Bella.
Dina continued, “You’re too naive and easily manipulated.”
Dina had understated it. In Bella’s presence, Jarvis wasn’t just naive—he bordered on foolish.
Jarvis’ expression shifted. “Mom, you’re making too much of it. Bella’s not like that.”
Dina sighed, tired of arguing with Jarvis. He was too caught up in Bella’s influence to see the truth. He reminded her of her younger self.
“Just be careful, or you might really anger your father.”
At the mention of his father’s wrath, Jarvis visibly paled. “I understand.”

At that moment, Kaiden burst into the room. Noticing the tense conversation between Jarvis and Dina, he asked, “What’s going on here? Shouldn’t you be getting some rest?”
Dina was quick to deflect. “I was just discussing with our son his upcoming internship at the Harris Group. I don’t know much about business, but since your brother secured this chance for him, I hope he takes it seriously and steers clear of his usual carelessness.”
Kaiden nodded and said to Jarvis, “Your mom’s right. Don’t screw this up.”
Kaiden often dished out advice that sounded grand but was hollow at its core.
Nevertheless, Jarvis responded politely, “Okay, I get it.”
After leaving the Harris Mansion, Bella immediately messaged Monica. Bella had felt exploited by Monica before and had cut off contact. Now, however, circumstances had changed. Needing something from Monica, Bella reached out.
Soon after, Bella’s phone rang.
As expected, it was Monica.
With a sly smile, Bella answered and said, “Miss Mitchell, I’m surprised you found time to call. Aren’t you supposed to be busy finding out where they’re going jewelry shopping tomorrow?” Monica was calling to verify Bella’s message, and now it appeared accurate.
Monica’s expression darkened, her grip tightening on her phone as though she might crush it at any moment.
Her voice icy, Monica asked, “Is what you said true?”
Having been ousted by Maggie earlier, Monica was now out of the loop and dependent on Bella for updates. Even through the phone, Monica could sense Bella’s taunting demeanor.
Monica was convinced Bella was reveling in her plight.
“Tell me everything. What’s really going on?”
