Chapter 1052:
A sharp crack rang out, and Terrance’s left leg snapped instantly.
He crashed to the floor, blood smeared across his face, the pain so intense that no sound came out. After a moment, he gasped, barely able to speak. “You’re really going to kill me here? You think no one will come after you for this?”
“Carter?” Rylie lightly tapped the hammer against his head, her voice calm and matter-of-fact. “Everything I’m doing is meant for him to notice. One day, I’ll deal with him myself. I’ll get rid of everyone who stands by his side, tear away his protection, and leave him with nowhere to run. Believe me—he won’t get an easy end like you.”
To Terrance, the blood on Rylie’s face twisted her smile into something terrifying, as if death itself stood before him. “I mean, I’m a doctor. The human body is my specialty.”
Terrance dragged himself toward her, his broken fingers gripping her pant leg. “Rylie, I was wrong. I swear I was wrong. Please… don’t kill me.”
Fear completely took over. His life wasn’t finished yet—there were plans he hadn’t even begun, dreams still untouched. He didn’t want to die, especially not here, and not in such a cruel, pointless way.
Just then, Rylie rose to her feet and let the hammer fall from her hand. The entire room slipped into a heavy, absolute silence.
She unlocked the door. A cop quickly looked at her, then saw Terrance still inside the room. He yelled into the corridor, “The prisoner’s heart stopped suddenly! He passed out—bring a medical professional here immediately!”
The doctor showed up and deliberately ignored every obvious wound on Terrance. After a lazy, half-hearted examination, he wrote down the cause of death as “sudden cardiac arrest.”

Laurel received the news shortly after. She had been holding onto a tiny thread of hope, convinced that Carter would never let her be taken out so quickly.
When she learned Terrance was dead, she snapped. She rushed toward the camera, screaming through tears, “You promised you’d protect us! Carter, you ungrateful piece of trash! You betrayed us—every word you said was a lie!”
The recording was copied onto a USB drive and sent off—one to Carter, another straight to the president.
When Paola heard what Rylie had done, she went quiet for a long moment before saying, “You actually used Brad and the Owens’ connections to kill someone inside a prison? If anyone uncovers this, it’s still a serious crime.”
“No one will ever hear about it,” Rylie replied without hesitation.
Paola gave her a long, searching look.
Rylie’s voice stayed level, almost too calm. “This isn’t a family fight anymore; it’s a political war now. Just keep your mouth shut, live your comfortable widow life, and you might actually make it out alive.”
Paola gave a small nod. “Alright, I understand.”
That very night, Laurel was executed swiftly, with no hesitation or postponement.
