Chapter 1085:

Letty’s head whipped toward Rylie, her eyes wide with sheer disbelief.

“Absurd. Utterly foolish.” Dominic spat the words, redirecting his rage toward Connor, whose face had gone ghostly pale. “Connor! You’ve truly gone too far this time. You’re not just scheming for personal gain—you’re tossing around empty promises. Who gave you the nerve to involve Evergreen University and me in your lies?”

Connor felt trapped, almost unable to breathe under the piercing intensity of Dominic’s stare. He had never seen his normally strict, reserved uncle erupt in such fury.

“No, it’s not what it seems, Uncle Dominic, I…” he faltered, his words spilling out in jumbled panic.

“Quiet. Never address me that way again,” Dominic snapped, cutting him off. “I will inform your parents of every detail. Fix this mess yourself. We are leaving.”

Connor’s family had always leaned on Dominic’s academic reputation to boost their standing in the field. Now everything was unraveling before them.

Who in their right mind would dare to challenge Rylie? Clearly, the old saying about reaping what you sow had completely gone over some people’s heads.

For Letty, any chance of confessing her mistake to Rylie had vanished. She could only face the harsh truth: expulsion from the Royal Academy of Arts was imminent. One careless decision had once again thrown her life into uncertainty and despair.

Walton and the others were seeing Rylie in person for the very first time. Her striking presence and sharp intellect captivated them instantly. From the moment introductions were made, conversation flowed easily, naturally drifting into scholarly topics along the way.

All of them were Dominic’s top students, yet none had been involved in that enigmatic research endeavor that had stirred so much curiosity.

Following a lively group dinner, the students gradually dispersed, leaving only Rylie behind. She followed Dominic to the lab, where he finally shifted the discussion to the heart of the matter.

Dominic retrieved a thick stack of files and powered on the laboratory projector, casting a serious light across the wall.

“You mentioned earlier that the experiment didn’t fail because of the stem-cell extraction amounts, and the patients weren’t at fault either,” Dominic began. “The real culprit was an unknown biological inhibitor. As soon as the cells interacted with the compound, this inhibitor accelerated their breakdown and eventual death.”

Rylie gave a slight nod. “At the time, I couldn’t tell whether it was sabotage or an operational flaw. Even AI-driven big-data analyses showed small but consistent anomalies.”

“I do have an assistant,” he continued, “but she would never betray my trust. She’s my wife—and a brilliant medical professor. I carefully reconfigured the entire setup and sent a detailed, revised protocol to headquarters. I even reshuffled the procedures to address the issues. But in the end, new complications still arose on their side, leaving me with more questions than answers.”

He pulled up the most recent synchronized data and experimental logs from the headquarters lab, projecting them onto the large central screen.
