Chapter 1090:

With Melany’s affairs settled, Rylie organized her experimental files and prepared for her upcoming trip to Marinth. Meanwhile, several elite mercenary groups on the dark web began moving with unusual urgency.

Her weapons manufacturing facility received two consecutive orders, each requiring cutting-edge technology and exacting precision.

Initially, Britton and the team saw the orders as nothing more than a profitable transaction—until they caught a shocking piece of news directly from the mercenaries.

Without wasting a moment, he placed a confidential call to Rylie over an encrypted line.

He spoke immediately. “Boss, Admiral Morgan has gone missing during talks at the Strait of Emerald in the Kingdom of East Islet.”

Rylie’s eyes hardened. “Where did you get this information?”

Britton replied, “It’s the second-ranked mercenary group on the dark web. I have good relations with their leader. He came to purchase weapons and tried to negotiate a discount. While flattering me, he accidentally let it slip. It seems the Havenridge Group issued the contract, offering a hundred million. What kind of connection does Brad have with the Havenridge Group that they’d risk provoking a major power to save him?”

Her expression remained serious. “Is this information reliable?”

“Without a doubt,” Britton said at once. “The Kingdom of East Islet never had honest intentions. They lured Brad to a remote island in the Verdant Isles, and he vanished there. I checked satellite coverage—there’s no signal in that area. This is clearly a trap.”

After a brief pause, Rylie said, “Offer them a 20% discount, but include one condition.”

Britton quickly understood. “Boss, are you getting involved as well?”

She replied with a cool tone, “What other choice do I have? That’s my man. If I don’t step in to save him, then who will?”

Her forceful declaration made Britton want to laugh, but he held it back. “Alright. I’ll handle the arrangements and ensure the factory refines the whole batch.”

When Britton mentioned inserting someone into the mercenary group, the captain rejected the idea immediately. “Your people aren’t trained for this,” the captain said. “Anyone else will only slow us down.”

Britton smirked. “It’s our boss. You think you’d get a twenty-percent discount otherwise?”

The captain blinked in disbelief. “She’s coming herself?”

Britton simply nodded. “Yeah.”

The captain paused, weighing the thought. He knew Mr. VS had a reputation in the weapons trade, but she was still a merchant—not as hardened as the others.

Britton caught the hesitation and grinned. “Relax. Even if your whole team went after her, they wouldn’t last a minute.”

The captain exhaled slowly. “That’s not all. The Havenridge Group is sending someone too—their eldest daughter is involved.”

Britton raised an eyebrow. “A woman? She’s coming to rescue Brad?”

“Yes,” the captain confirmed. “Kari Yates. She’s leading the mission. Ranked twentieth on the dark web—skilled, but not fully seasoned. We’ll still need to monitor the client.” He took a long drag from his cigarette and exhaled slowly. “Why does she even have to come? Hero saving her handsome man, I guess.”

Britton chuckled softly. “Could be.”
