Chapter 1153:

A muscular thug lifted a heavy axe and brought it down hard on one of the containers. The shock traveled up his arm and left it numb, while the glass didn’t so much as crack. Instead, the impact triggered a defense system — iron bars snapping into place around the case.

The celebration died instantly.

Refusing to accept defeat, the man swung again — twice — managing only to leave faint marks on the surface.

Henson stared in disbelief. “Is it really this indestructible? Do we have to use explosives?”

“Are you insane?” another man snapped. “If the weapons get destroyed, this was all pointless. There has to be another solution.”

The godfather finally spoke. “A password. VS weapons can only be accessed that way. Try to force them, and the system will destroy everything inside.”

The problem was obvious — none of them had the password.

One by one, their gazes turned to Karina.

Henson casually wrapped an arm around her waist. “Darling, you’re the only person who can get us that password.”

Karina frowned deliberately. “So now you expect me to do it? That’s basically sending me to my death. Deandre would immediately know there’s a mole — it’s far too dangerous.”

She flatly refused, but no one was willing to abandon the prize. Henson ran a hand through his hair. “VS weapons are the most valuable there are. A haul this big is easily worth hundreds of millions. The Costa Syndicate must have poured everything into this move just to challenge us — they want exclusive control over the rare mushroom trade. Give them these weapons, and they’ll dominate Marinth. Who could stop them then? Father, what should we do?”

The godfather fell silent. The weapons were unquestionably authentic — but was the risk worth it? And more importantly, could Karina be relied on?

Sensing his hesitation, Karina raised her voice. “I already said no, and I won’t change my mind. I’m not sacrificing my life. I’ve given everything to this family and got nothing back — I even lost my brother. And Deandre already has another woman.” She scoffed bitterly. “Who knows when he’ll decide I’m disposable?”

She turned to leave, but a calm voice halted her. “Bring back the password and prove your loyalty, and the family’s wealth will be placed in your hands.”

Karina froze, then shook her head. “It’s still not worth risking my life.”

The godfather’s voice turned cold. “Refuse, and I’ll inform the Costa Syndicate that you were the one who leaked the weapons’ location. Deandre will chase you to your last breath. Take the deal while it’s still being offered.”

Karina’s eyes reddened as she finally gave in. After a brief pause, she said quietly, “But before I do anything, I need you to agree to one condition.”

Henson responded without hesitation. “Say the word.”

Karina lifted her chin. “I want Deandre to make a choice. I need to know if he ever truly cared about me — or if I was just a tool. I’m afraid the woman he loves now means more to him than I ever did.”
