Chapter 239:

Brad’s lips tightened. “Don’t get the wrong idea.”

Rylie tilted her head slightly, a faint smile on her face. “What’s there to get wrong? We’re just friends.”

She pulled her wrist free and waved. “Goodnight.”

From inside the car, Zaylee couldn’t hear a word. She only saw Rylie in that fiery red skirt walking away, while Brad stood still, watching her far longer than he needed to.

Zaylee felt it deep down. Rylie meant something different to him.

She bit her lip, lost in thought. Life here was a whole new battlefield, and gaining a place among these people wouldn’t be easy. She couldn’t pick fights with women like Rylie. She would have to rely on her own effort and skill to outshine them and earn Brad’s attention.

Rylie had barely stepped inside when Felix’s assistant, Alistair, greeted her.

Seeing her safe, Alistair let out a quiet breath of relief. He rose from his seat, suitcase in hand, and asked, “Miss Owen, I trust you didn’t have any trouble? Do you still have the money with you?”

“I do.” She looked at him curiously. “Why do you ask?”

“Mr. Felix Owen was worried you wouldn’t have enough funds, so he set aside a large amount of money for gambling,” Alistair explained. “But Brad stopped me from taking it to the casino. He went to help you himself. I’ve been waiting here for your return.”

Her expression softened. “Thank you for all your effort. You did help a lot today. I’ll talk to my brother about giving you a bonus at the end of the year.”

Alistair’s eyes lit up. “Thank you, Miss Owen. I’ll let you rest now. I’ll take my leave.”

News of Black Tiger’s assassination soon reached the vice mayor.

Standing in a hidden passage of his house, he called Ronan, his voice heavy with panic. “Tell me where you got those weapons. Which ship did you hijack?”

Ronan was seated in a private room at a bar. “Like I told you last time, it was just an accident. My men hijacked the wrong ship. I thought it carried medical supplies from Facruiso, but it was full of smuggled weapons. It seemed like common goods from a small arms factory, nothing major. You’ve been selling them for me without a problem, haven’t you?”

The vice mayor’s tone grew stern. “Black Tiger has been killed, and the whole batch of goods from last night is gone. Everyone involved is dead. I don’t know how much Black Tiger revealed about you. If you don’t want me dragged into this, you’d better tell me everything.”

Ronan froze as the weight of the news sank in. “Killed? At the Crolens Casino? How could that even happen? Who could pull something like that off? You’re not trying to fool me, are you?”

He knew that the Crolens Casino was the most secure and luxurious place in the country. Its guards and cameras left no blind spots. How could anyone pull off such a massacre right under their noses?

The vice mayor spoke with a grim edge. “If I wasn’t worried about my own safety, I wouldn’t even be telling you this. Only one of the top three assassin groups on the dark web could pull off something like this. Do you have any other details you haven’t shared?”
