Chapter 283:
Ronan kept his professional smile. “General, this system has never failed.”
Then, out of nowhere, there was a loud bang.
The door of the medical cabin flew open, and a slim figure strode in with deliberate calm.
“Who decided this piece of junk has never failed before?” Rylie’s tone cut through the air, sharp and cold, like frost skimming over still water.
Candice spun around, startled. Her confusion shifted into anger. “Who let this woman in? She’s not supposed to be here! Get her out now!”
But none of the soldiers moved a muscle. Her words landed flat.
Jaxon stepped in, his voice louder. “Why is no one removing her? Get her out!”
“Who would dare?” Brad’s voice dropped low, and something cold rolled off him. No one outside took a single step.
Brock responded quickly, “Miss Owen still holds valid clearance. She has unrestricted access to the naval base, as long as she’s under Hattie’s guidance.”
Hattie poked her head out, then quickly ducked back, not wanting her name dragged into the scene. The room had grown too tense.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Army narrowed his eyes as he watched Rylie walk in. “What are you doing here? Since when did the Morgans have someone like you?”
Candice hadn’t expected Brad to let his girlfriend walk into a restricted space and create a scene. Didn’t he find that humiliating?
She couldn’t stay quiet. “If you care about Brad at all, you’d stay home. You’re out of place here.”
Jaxon joined in. “She doesn’t even know the rules of the camp. This behavior is unacceptable. Young lady, leave now. Do you really think you can—”
“Can stir up the situation?” Rylie cut in, stepping forward as she placed a document directly in the Navy Commander-in-Chief’s hands. “This is the full medical evaluation Brad underwent this morning, focusing on neurological concerns. Ten of the top community specialists reviewed him together. Their findings are precise and detailed. These results show clear discrepancies compared to what this equipment reports. And the gap is far from minor.”
The Navy Commander-in-Chief took a moment to review the papers. Then he handed them to Candice. “Take a look at this.”

Ronan’s face twitched. That report, out in the open, accused his machines of faulty results. And it wasn’t just anyone present — every key military official stood in that room. How was he supposed to keep draining public funds in the future?
His temper flared. “That’s impossible. My equipment has been trusted by the Navy for years. My entire family has served this country. And now you’re waving some report around and calling it real?”
“It doesn’t look fake,” Candice admitted after going through the medical report. The official seal of the military hospital was stamped on every page. No one in their right mind would dare forge something under that seal.
“The report states that Brad’s physical indicators are strong enough to see him through the conflict.” Candice had no choice but to say it as it was. So, was there really a problem with the medical system on the warship?
Everyone’s eyes turned toward Ronan, their suspicion clear.
Brad calmly buttoned the buttons on his shirt, his expression indifferent. “I, too, believe this machine has issues. And the report on issues regarding emergency medical equipment has already been submitted to the Minister of Defense.”
