Chapter 295:
“I see. I’ll come pick some when I need it,” Rylie said.
By the time she left Melany’s house, the sky was already growing light. Still, she showed no sign of fatigue. Brad drove her.
“Back to the Owen residence?” he asked.
“No. Your place. I’ll be staying there for a while,” Rylie replied.
Brad pressed his lips together. “Looks like I owe you more than I thought.”
Rylie leaned her head against the window, letting the morning breeze brush her face. “So what?”
Brad’s voice drifted through the soft wind, low and teasing. “Then I guess I’ll just have to offer myself, anytime you need me.”
Rylie looked over and let out a small laugh. “Oh.”
After a pause, Brad changed the topic. “So, what is Snow Mint exactly? Is it really worth all this effort?”
Rylie explained, “While researching your neurological condition, I ran hundreds of tests. But something was missing — a compound that stimulates nerve function. Snow Mint has it. Even in food, it boosts mental clarity, sharpens focus, and increases neural sensitivity. It’s incredibly helpful for you.”
Brad’s fingers tightened briefly around the steering wheel, then relaxed. “So… This is all for me?”
“I promised I’d cure you.” Rylie turned to him, her features glowing in the morning light. Her lashes caught the sun like threads of gold, but her eyes were firm and clear.
Brad quickly looked away. One more second and he might forget the road entirely.
What Rylie didn’t say was that Snow Mint alone wasn’t enough. A complete cure would require chemical extracts from toxic companion plants — similar to the previous N-type suppressant he had received. The concept was the same: use poison to fight poison.
By morning, Zaylee was already up. She headed down to the dining room and paused at the sight of Brad and Rylie having breakfast together.

Her fists clenched, but she quickly forced a bright smile and skipped over to the table. She pulled out a chair beside Brad. “Brad, you’re up early! Rylie, did you spend the night here?”
Rylie gave a casual response. Zaylee noticed the pie on the table and stood to serve a slice. “Rylie, you’ve got to try this pie. I’ve been obsessed with it lately.” Then she placed another slice on Brad’s plate. “Brad, you should eat too. Look at those dark circles. Did you stay up all night again?”
Turning to Rylie, she sighed. “Brad works so hard and still makes time to take care of me. Sometimes I really don’t know how to thank him.”
Rylie thought back to the jelly Zaylee had tossed in the trash and asked Brad, “Are you heading to work?”
“Yeah. There’s a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Morgan Group today. I have to be there.”
“And me?” Rylie asked.
Before Brad could reply, Zaylee jumped in. “Brad has to manage both the military and the company. It’s not easy at all.” She reached out and placed her hands on his shoulders. “Brad, you must be exhausted. Let me give you a massage.”
