Chapter 307:

“Of course, you didn’t,” Rylie replied, her smile sharp enough to cut. “If you had, you wouldn’t need Candice, the medical officer, to manually report the equipment’s data. I found that loophole ridiculous, so I modified the system. Now it has a self-check feature. It inspects itself, fixes errors, and generates reports. Less workload, better accuracy. Isn’t that an improvement?”

The Navy Commander-in-Chief scanned the report, realizing it matched the hospital’s results and even offered detailed medical recommendations. The original equipment had never produced this level of precision, leaving everyone stunned.

Could Rylie have truly upgraded Ronan’s medical device?

The patent remained militarily valuable due to its tightly guarded technical secrets, unmatched by any other medical firm.

“Are you really going to trust her that easily?” Candice spoke up, disbelief ringing in her tone. “Doesn’t this sound far-fetched? This equipment might have other problems. Everyone knows Ronan’s research team is world-class. How could a student like Rylie pull this off? She must have had help.”

Rylie yawned, her voice slow and unbothered. “For something like this, I can handle it alone.”

“I’m having trouble believing that as well,” Jaxon said after a pause. “Let me explain. I’m not biased, but with Candice raising doubts, it seems unlikely that this girl could have made such a huge upgrade to medical equipment on her own and in such little time. My guess is that the General used his private research team and claimed Rylie did it by herself.”

Catching the meaning behind Jaxon’s words, his subordinate deliberately asked, “Why bother hiding it? Wouldn’t openly saying there’s a research team make the military trust the…”

The comment came dangerously close to accusing Brad of working with foreign groups to commit treason.

Brock’s temper exploded. “That’s complete nonsense! The General has done nothing but bring honor to our country over and over again! If you dare accuse him like that, I won’t let it go!”

Jaxon’s subordinate dropped his gaze. “Mr. Hewitt, are you angry because I hit a nerve? Are you planning to mimic that arrogant girl and start a fight on military grounds? You do realize attacking military personnel is a serious crime, don’t you?”

Brock’s face burned red with fury. “You!”

The Army’s Commander-in-Chief said, “It’s not impossible. We don’t know what program has been implanted into this medical equipment. Until a thorough investigation is completed, it will not be put into use.”

Knowing he had protection, Ronan finally relaxed a bit, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. He then said, “Moreover, after a unanimous discussion within my family, we believe this kind of modification infringes on our patent rights. Once it’s put into use, I will take this to the military court.”

Brad’s face grew stiff. His voice turned sharp and cold. “You might own the patents, but you’ve never used the core technology on the ships. You’re draining the Navy’s funds year after year, hiding behind questionable deals. Do you really think I can’t do anything about it?”

Ronan flinched under the weight of Brad’s stare. Still, he reminded himself there was no reason to be afraid of a man who would soon be stepping down. He faked a smile. One hand pressed against his chest as if alarmed. “General, I would never dare. I care about this country too. You can’t stain my name in public without having solid proof.”
