Chapter 335:
One of them, bold enough to speak, blurted out, “Being in the military doesn’t mean you can protect a fraud!”
“Exactly! Even soldiers can be like this?” others whispered.
Suddenly, noise erupted outside.
Boswell, the secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, walked in with armed police. His face was hard and unreadable. “Who gave you the right to arrest people without any proper investigation?”
“Mr. Foster!” The police chief, Yashiro Diaz, ran out, drenched in sweat. Since receiving a certain call, his nerves had been rattled. It was supposed to be a simple favor for his nephew, Trevor. But now, the Owens were involved.
“This must be a mistake! My men wouldn’t arrest anyone without cause!”
Boswell gave him a look of disdain. “Didn’t you arrest the owner of HaloFlow Hospital and a group of retired veterans? Abuse of power, brute force, shielding family — do you call that a mistake?”
Yashiro was shaken. Yes, he gave the order. But he had checked the veterans’ records. HaloFlow’s hiring process was clearly sketchy. How was this abuse?
He followed Boswell anxiously. “I looked into it before taking action. Those veterans haven’t practiced in years. No certifications. The hospital only hired them to cheat government funds.”
Boswell stopped. A mocking smile tugged at his lips. “Chief Diaz, maybe you don’t know. HaloFlow Hospital is backed by the Navy. Its owner is the only daughter of the Owens — the richest family around. She spent two hundred million on that hospital. Do you really think she needs to cheat the government?”
He opened the car door and turned to Yashiro. “Get in.”
Yashiro’s face turned ashen.

As the police car neared the station, Yashiro spotted several military vehicles parked out front. His chest tightened. “The military too? How did things spiral like this?”
The closer they got, the heavier his steps became.
At the entrance, special forces guarded the mediation room. Yashiro’s breathing grew shaky. “Mr. Foster… Who’s here?”
“Brad Morgan,” Boswell replied. “Commander of the Navy.” He looked at Yashiro, the man responsible for ruining his daughter’s birthday. As he saw the fear in Yashiro’s eyes, Boswell’s anger cooled just a bit. “You’re on your own.” The door to the mediation room creaked open.
Trevor’s eyes lit up when he saw his uncle. He ran over. “Un… Chief Diaz! You have to help us! HaloFlow is scamming the government and treating us unfairly! We investigated! But these soldiers are twisting everything!”
“Shut up!” Yashiro barked. Trevor froze.
Yashiro turned to Brad and lowered his tone. “Admiral Morgan, where did my officers go wrong in handling the case?”
Brad handed over a file. “Read this.”
