Chapter 340:

Brad, leaning casually against the wall, suddenly spoke. “Where do you think you’re going?”

At his signal, a squad of special forces soldiers stepped forward, blocking the exit in a tight formation. No one was going anywhere.

Voices rose in frantic protest. “We’ve given up pressing charges against HaloFlow Hospital! What else do you want from us?”

“Backing down now doesn’t erase what you’ve done,” Brad’s tone was flat but firm as he stepped forward. “You’ve slandered the hospital’s name, fueled baseless rumors, and stirred public unrest. All of that carries legal consequences — and you will answer for it.”

With calm poise, Rylie lifted her hand. A faint smile traced her lips. “The internet’s saturated with false accusations against HaloFlow. This kind of fallout doesn’t clean up on its own — someone has to take responsibility.”

Trevor said incredulously, “Are you kidding me? I haven’t even accused you of defrauding government funds yet!”

“Enough out of you!” Yashiro struck Trevor hard across the face. “You idiot! Do you even realize who you just insulted? That woman could end your entire future with a single word!”

“But… Uncle!” Trevor staggered back, clutching his cheek. “Weren’t you the one accusing them of fraud earlier?”

“Uncle?” Brad’s gaze sharpened as he looked at Yashiro. “So this is what’s going on — nepotism, cover-ups, and obstruction of justice?”

“N-No, Mr. Morgan! I swear, that’s not the case! I would never—” Yashiro trembled, his composure unraveling as the weight of the accusations pressed down on him. If even a fraction of them proved true, everything he had built would collapse in disgrace.

Just then, the door swung open, and Brock quickly stepped aside as a procession of men in tailored suits entered, escorting an elderly gentleman.

Brock reported with urgency, “Mr. Morgan, Mr. Kendrick Owen has arrived.”

Brad gave a subtle nod. “Bring him here.”

The moment Kendrick spotted Rylie, his stern expression melted into concern. “Rylie, are you hurt?”

Despite his age, Kendrick crossed the room briskly without his usual cane. He clasped Rylie’s hands tightly, his eyes scanning her with worry. “Did anyone threaten you? Tell me everything.”

Rylie glanced at Yashiro and Trevor — both frozen with dread — and slowly nodded. Her voice trembled just enough to stir sympathy. “Grandpa… they said our hospital was stealing government funds.”

“What did you just say?!” Kendrick’s eyes darkened with fury as he turned to Yashiro. “You think my granddaughter needs to cheat the government for a few scraps? Absurd!”

Boswell quickly stepped forward, trying to ease the tension. “Of course, Mr. Owen. Everyone in Crolens knows the Owen family is a pillar of our city. Miss Owen’s hospital has not only elevated our healthcare system but has also created countless jobs and opportunities.”
