Chapter 382:
Alvaro shot to his feet so quickly his chair scraped against the floor, nearly toppling his plate in the process. “A general formula? What kind of general formula are you talking about?”
Melany pulled a notebook from her backpack and flipped to a specific page. The teachers leaned in, noticing a neatly written formula, elegant in style, with a clear, detailed derivation beside it.
“This… This is advanced mathematics!” Alvaro’s hand shook slightly.
Gunter didn’t look the least bit surprised. “Dr. Owen is from the medical university. She was top of her class.”
“It’s just that I happen to know a little math,” Rylie said casually with a smile. “Melany’s sharp. She picks things up fast.”
The room shifted. The teachers stared at Melany in awe, their curiosity piqued. Their eyes on Rylie now carried a hint of respect.
Alvaro asked, his tone now warm, “Melany, may I see your notebook?” She handed it over, and Alvaro held it as if it were something rare. The other teachers gathered around, eager to peek inside. Page after page was filled with crisp notes and clever solutions to tough problems. Some were even more brilliant than the ones in their textbooks.
“This notebook…” Talbot blinked in surprise. “It’s better than our teaching manuals. Can I print a copy?”
Rylie gave a small nod. “Of course.”
Some teachers, still confused by a few pages, turned to Rylie for help. After a glance, Rylie explained the entire process clearly, earning everyone’s admiration for her remarkable talent.
After the meal, the teachers left the private room with Rylie. One of them said, “Miss Owen, I saw the news recently. Looks like the rumors have been cleared. We’re glad. You didn’t deserve to be silenced for so long.”
Rylie was a rare gem, hidden in plain sight. The teachers felt it was such a waste.

But she only smiled lightly and said, “It’s about time. I should take Melany home — she has an exam tomorrow.”
“That’s right. We can’t delay a child’s studies,” they agreed, rising with her. Together, they walked out of the restaurant. A girl hiding nearby quickly snapped a photo of the scene and sent it to Zaylee.
“Rylie’s dining with the Advanced Honors Class teachers and Mr. Wells. They’re all smiling and chatting. Everyone’s being really polite to her. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, though.”
Zaylee frowned, uneasy. These were the teachers usually praised by students, and now they were being overly kind to Rylie. She quickly messaged Letty, sharing what she’d just heard.
Letty’s reply came soon after. “So what if they had dinner? Do you think one meal will get Melany into the Advanced Honors Class when her grades are still behind? Zaylee, focus on yourself. Go through the questions I marked. Don’t let me down.”
Zaylee nodded to herself. Letty was right. She tossed her phone aside and got to work.
