Chapter 447:
Rylie tilted her head with a soft smile. “Simple. Just answer the questions again. The only difference is, this time, the person who doubted you will be the one setting them.”
After grabbing something to eat, they returned to the school. When Rylie walked into the meeting room to face Gunter and the Department of Education officials, Letty was already there. She brought out her PhD certificate, claiming it was proof Melany had seen the answers ahead of time. She also accused Rylie of barely making it into college through the Kirk family’s connections, citing her poor high school grades.
Gunter tried to defend her. “Miss Owen and the Kirk family have been in the news lately. Her grades weren’t that bad. It was her sister who tampered with her exam results.”
Letty scoffed. “She held the pen herself. If things were hard at home, she should’ve worked harder. Life’s tough for everyone. You can’t believe everything you read online.”
As their argument heated up, Rylie calmly clapped her hands. “You’re right, Ms. Carter. The easiest way to prove Melany’s ability is to let her retake the exam.”
Letty was startled to see Rylie and, with a mocking tone, said, “No matter how many times Melany retakes it, the influence of your powerful family can always provide answers for you and Melany. The result will be the same.” She couldn’t stand people who used influence to step on real talent.
Rylie smiled faintly. “Then let the questions come from you and a team of teachers from other schools. You can also handle the printing and distribution. Make the questions as tough as you want — like the ones for the Advanced Honors Class. I’ll take the test too. I’ll also act as an unbiased judge and address any concerns. Fair enough?”
Letty stared, finding Rylie’s inexplicable confidence quite amusing. She smirked.

“I have no objections, but I’m not the one who decides.”
Rylie turned to Gunter. “Mr. Wells, what’s your take?”
Gunter spoke briefly with the education officials. They all agreed. The plan would prove the school’s fairness, show that there was no favoritism, and reveal the true abilities of both Zaylee and Melany.
That evening, the forum posts accusing Melany of cheating weren’t taken down. In fact, more posts appeared — this time claiming that Zaylee’s scores had been unfairly lowered.
“Zaylee and Melany don’t get along. Zaylee’s tutor is a PhD holder. Melany? She’s tutored by a spoiled rich girl who barely passed high school. Their tutors are at odds, and Melany used that connection to steal the answers, just to outshine Zaylee’s tutor.”
“Zaylee’s grades were clearly marked down on purpose.”
“How could someone who was always at the top of her class in high school not even make the top fifty here?”
Lying in bed, Zaylee scrolled through the posts. Each comment cheered her up. She smiled, hoping that Melany would be expelled by morning.
