Chapter 476:

At the concert, Rylie had initially found the music and energy exciting. But after two long hours, it became a chore. She barely made it to the end with Deandre. Then news came in — a call from his overseas lab. Something had gone wrong with their stem cell amplification trials. Human testing had led to severe complications — even deaths.

Deandre’s expression changed at once. He turned to Rylie, clearly torn. She noticed and gently smiled. “If it’s urgent, go. I don’t like noisy places anyway. Let’s have a peaceful picnic next time.”

Deandre patted her head softly. “Alright. A picnic, next time.”

Before leaving, he handed her a pass. “I’ve made arrangements. If you want to take pictures or have dinner with the boys, just show this.”

Rylie looked at the pass and gave a dry chuckle. “Alright.”

Not far from the Nova Sports Pavilion, in the sleek conference room of Evergreen Media Works, a remote meeting was in session. Ten executives sat around a large round table. Evergreen was Eshea’s leading entertainment company. It housed three A-listers and a roster full of rising stars.

They had just received an invitation from the Owen family. The task: find a suitable spokesperson for a massive three-hundred-million-dollar business deal between the Owens and the Morgans.

Construction for the project had already begun. Now they needed a face to represent it — someone who could stir excitement and make headlines.

After careful screening, a shortlist of candidates had been prepared. With the Owen and Morgan family reps joining the video call, the meeting kicked off. Representing the Owens was Felix’s assistant, Alistair. On the Morgan side, it was none other than Brad himself, the famous admiral.

At first, the meeting was expected to be routine — just the assistants gathering data. No one from Evergreen imagined someone like Brad would show up in person.

But when word got out that Brad would be attending, the whole office went on edge. The business manager scrambled to polish the presentation, desperate not to slip up.

Brad hadn’t planned to join the meeting. But once he heard the Owens were involved, he chose to oversee things personally.

On-screen, Brad appeared expressionless. He gave a small nod to signal the start. His eyes, sharp and unreadable, swept across the room. Even through a screen, his presence carried weight. People shifted in their seats, suddenly aware of every breath.

Rupert Brown from the business department cleared his throat and began.

“Admiral Morgan, Mr. Townley, thank you for joining us today. Regarding the spokesperson for the Nexus Future project, we’ve conducted multiple rounds of screening. We’ve narrowed it down to three female stars who match the project’s image. I’ll walk you through our selections and the reasons behind them,” he said, his voice tight with nerves.
