Chapter 493:

The NovaRush fanbase was massive, and word of Vincent’s injury had spread like wildfire. Everyone wanted to know where he was now and how serious the injury was. At home, Elaine had already come up with a way to handle the matter. Her phone rang nonstop. In a hurry, she rushed to Starwave Entertainment’s headquarters and held a late-night online press conference to address the fans. Rylie watched the stream live.

Elaine sat in front of the camera, her expression serious. “What happened to Vincent onstage wasn’t because he drank water from a fan. A malicious person, disguised as company staff for two years, slipped a harmful chemical into the secure water bottle meant for Vincent’s performance, badly injuring his throat. We gave him first aid immediately and moved him to a private hospital. He is not in HaloFlow Hospital. Please don’t disturb the patients there.”

She continued, explaining their choice: “HaloFlow Hospital is new, large, and located in a busy part of Crolens. Bringing Vincent there could have caused a scene — crowds, chaos, even delays for other patients. So, we chose a private hospital with top-notch care. He’s in good hands, and we’ve assigned the best medical staff to his case. As for the person who poisoned him, that person has been handed over to the police. Please be patient while we wait for Vincent to recover.”

Elaine then stood and gave a deep bow. “I’m truly sorry for what happened. The company will do everything possible to help Vincent get better.”

As the press conference wrapped up, a reporter asked a final question. “A fan at the concert said a woman in the VIP area ran to help Vincent. There was a scuffle with your staff, and Vincent stayed on stage for quite a while before being carried out. Was she a medical worker arranged by the company?”

Elaine paused to gather her thoughts. “From what I’ve been told, she was just a medical student. She helped stabilize Vincent for a while. I can’t comment too much on what she did — I’m not a professional. Our staff was worried she might do more harm than good. But since she had the needles, they didn’t dare stop her. Right now, I’m just worried about what could have gone wrong.”

The reporter pressed, “So, you allowed someone without a license to treat Vincent?”

Elaine bowed once more. “We’re already looking into the matter and have tracked down that young woman involved. We’re hoping she’ll come forward soon and clarify everything. As for the delay in Vincent’s treatment, it’s too soon to say anything definite. Let’s wrap up the press conference here.” The live feed cut off. The screen went black. But online, the debate had just begun. People were arguing over whether Rylie had acted with good intentions or hidden motives. Theories about whether the poisoning was a fan’s obsession gone wrong or a case of societal revenge quickly trended.

Things had been hectic that night. The stage lights had mostly been dark and pink. On top of that, the VIP area had been too secluded. Because of that, most of the photos of Rylie that surfaced were grainy and unclear.

Social media exploded. Everyone wanted answers. Was she trying to help or just making things worse?

Ordinary people were unaware, but the Owen family noticed the news immediately. Even Felix, who was abroad, was constantly monitoring his sister’s situation. He promptly arranged for the removal of those blurry photos from the web and had the social media accounts of fans posting emotional and dangerous comments banned.

By morning, it was like the internet had been wiped clean. Anything about Rylie vanished almost instantly.
