Chapter 532:
Rylie fixed Connie with a gaze as sharp as a blade. “I will ask you one final time. Was it Zaylee who saved your life… or was it me?”
The weight of her stare made Connie’s lips quiver.
Zaylee quickly interjected, “Rylie, Connie hasn’t fully recovered. Stop trying to intimidate her.”
Under the subtle but pointed glare Zaylee cast her way, Connie gave the faintest nod and murmured, “It… it was you who pushed me.”
“Good.” A cold, mirthless curve tugged at Rylie’s lips, her smile laced with nothing but cutting derision. She shifted her gaze to the bodyguard behind her. “Retrieve the ‘Nexus Future’ project file from my hospital room.”
Without a moment’s pause, the bodyguard moved to carry out her order. The moment those words left her mouth, the corridor stilled for a heartbeat before erupting into an even harsher uproar.
Caleb barked out a mocking laugh. “The ‘Nexus Future’ proposal? And who exactly do you think you are? If you’re going to fabricate a scene, at least make it sound plausible! That’s a prime venture under the Morgan family’s control, since when would a venomous thing like you have any stake in it?”
“Precisely!” Beatrice’s lips curled in contempt as she stabbed her finger in Rylie’s direction once more. “Do you expect us to swallow this charade with some counterfeit paperwork? You take us for simpletons? You shoved my daughter, and now you’re resorting to this pitiful distraction? Keep on dreaming!”
Zaylee, upon hearing Rylie’s inexplicable mention of “Nexus Future,” allowed her posture to ease, the corners of her lips lifting in a faintly scornful curve. Rylie’s sudden glare and questioning had startled her for a moment, but now she was certain it was nothing more than a desperate bluff.
“Rylie,” Zaylee said, her voice steeped in false sympathy and veiled derision, “I understand you’re afraid to face the repercussions, but fabricating stories and trying to divert the discussion won’t save you. Everyone knows the ‘Nexus Future’ district belongs to the Morgan family. And as far as I’m concerned, Brad is an honorable man — he wouldn’t protect someone guilty of wrongdoing. With Connie and all these students standing as witnesses, the truth is indisputable.”

She inclined her head slightly, a mask of concern on her face. “What you ought to do now is acknowledge your fault, apologize, and plead for Connie and her family’s pardon. Pretending to be some kind of ‘project leader’ only makes you appear… pathetic.”
Zaylee’s confidence remained unshaken. Even if Brad harbored some affection for Rylie, she held the unwavering support of his grandfather and the debt owed for saving his life. Securing the shops for her classmates would be nothing more than a simple favor.
The students who had previously spun lies, momentarily afraid, now fed off the fury emanating from the parents.
The boy with glasses lifted his chin in open defiance. “Yeah! Did you honestly think showing some random file would scare us? The ‘Nexus Future’ project is under the Morgans — what does that have to do with you, Rylie? So you’ve got a bit of money? You’re still nothing compared to the real high families!”
The curly-haired girl quickly chimed in, “Exactly! Throwing your weight around? You should know your place! We’re speaking the truth!”
Beatrice let out a cold, dismissive laugh. “Madwoman. Have you lost your grip completely? Now you’re deluded enough to think you’re in charge of that project?”
