Chapter 662:

Cedric, who had brushed her off earlier, now stammered with flushed cheeks, “M-Miss Owen, please—you have to tell me. Where did you find it? How much of it is there?”

The board members who had shown her only disdain a moment before now stared in awe, nearly reverent.

Rylie, however, kept her composure. Her voice stayed even as she answered, “I came across it in the mine.”

“You came across it? In the mine?” someone repeated, stunned.

The words were simple, but every person in that call knew what they meant.

The mine was a death trap.

Felix had led a team of the best and still lost men, barely surviving himself.

And this young woman, the one dismissed as reckless and sheltered, had gone back alone. She had saved her brother, found the rare mineral, and done what their entire team couldn’t accomplish despite the heavy toll.

They could only sit there, struck dumb by what she had managed.

Beside her, Felix looked at his sister, his eyes wide in shock and something deeper—pure admiration.

His voice carried both pride and worry. “Tell me the truth. Did you really bring this crystal back when you returned to the mine alone for the antidote sample?”

Rylie gave a quiet nod, her face unreadable. “Yes. I found it close to the spot where you had the accident. It reacts to certain radioactive toxins, so I believe this is what you were searching for.”

Felix’s excitement burst forth as he grabbed her hand. “Do you realize this simple stone could save our chip production from disaster?”

Rylie smiled at his joy. “I’m glad I could help. I don’t want you living at anyone’s mercy.”

Those who had grumbled about wasted time now felt heat rising to their cheeks. Their eyes fell on Rylie, filled with shame—and a new respect.

Gossip and silly rumors, like the Sweetberry chatter, crumbled into dust before this solid truth. She was no bystander. She was the Owens’ lucky star—their hero.

Someone cried out in excitement, “Mr. Owen’s billion-dollar investment is safe now! If the technical team succeeds, we’ll finally shake off those outrageous premiums. We won’t live under anyone’s thumb again! All thanks to you, Miss Owen—you’re truly our lucky star!”

The tense meeting eased, carried on the wave she had created. Felix’s frown softened. With her part done, Rylie quietly prepared to leave.

Behind her, the screen lit up with the faces of executives calling out to Felix. “Don’t forget to invite us to Miss Owen’s welcome-back party! We’ll bring gifts and congratulations!”

“Of course,” Felix replied warmly, pride and affection shining in his eyes as he looked at his sister.

His gaze lingered on her slender figure until the door closed softly, shutting out the noise.

When the meeting ended, Felix glanced down and noticed a flash drive resting on the bed. Rylie had left it behind.

He slid it into his computer and the video began to play.
