Chapter 671:

Ainsley had never imagined Kyla would intervene on Rylie’s behalf. The realization drained the color from her face. Her lips parted, but under the crushing weight of Kyla’s presence, no words would come.

She had never imagined someone as detached from the world as Kyla would openly take Rylie’s side. “Are you certain you want to stand up for her?” Ainsley demanded, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Kyla’s reply was calm, every word deliberate. “I’m only sparing you from burying yourself deeper.”

The response nearly drove Ainsley into hysteria. “No matter what you say, I refuse to work with someone whose reputation is already in the gutter!”

Spitting out those words, she spun on her heel and stormed off.

On her way back, however, she still made sure to snap a teary-eyed selfie, quickly uploading it to social media for all to see.

She was sure there would be a storm that scene might set off.

Kyla leaned slightly toward Rylie and said, “Brad just called me. Come on, we’ll continue in the RV.”

Without hesitation, Rylie followed her.

Behind them, Amayah held tightly to Hattie’s hand and muttered in a low voice, “What’s happening here? Who is that girl really? Why would you spend time with someone so questionable?”

Hattie snapped back without a pause, “Miss Owen isn’t questionable at all! Everything Ainsley said was nothing but slander. She’s a doctor, the Owen family’s daughter, and Admiral Morgan’s girlfriend. Deandre is only her brother.”

Amayah froze at her daughter’s response. “Admiral Morgan?”

Hattie suddenly looked off into the distance, her eyes brightening. “He’s here.”

Amayah followed her gaze, and the sight made her expression stiffen.

Was that… Admiral Morgan? It truly was him.

Brad approached with a bag of takeout barbecue and beer in one hand, his black trench coat trailing behind him. His presence alone drew every eye around them.

“Where’s Rylie?” he asked, his tone direct as his eyes swept the area.

“She went to the RV with Kyla,” Hattie answered quickly. “I’ll take you there.”

Brad gave Amayah a courteous nod in greeting. She was so thrilled that she nearly lost her composure. “My husband greatly admires you! Could we take a photo together?”

“Mom! Please don’t. That’s not appropriate,” Hattie quickly interjected.

“It’s alright,” Brad replied.

He didn’t decline and allowed her to snap a picture with him.

With her hands shaking, Amayah tucked her phone away and urged Hattie to guide him at once.

As she watched Brad step into the RV, Amayah’s thoughts churned. If every word her daughter had spoken was true, it meant Ainsley had indeed offended someone she should never have crossed. Amayah screamed a silent “oh no” in her mind and hurried back to the directors’ lounge, only to find the director still on the phone.

“What’s Ainsley stirring up this time? Claiming she wants to quit the film? And who were those two extras?”
