Chapter 875:

A deep ache stirred in Felix’s chest. He pulled her into a brief, sincere embrace before stepping back slightly.

“I understand. What’s your plan?”

“I still hold shares in the Kirk family. That’s why their company survived,” Rylie said firmly. “I intend to use that leverage to gain control of Detour Inc. As for the Kirks, giving them a chance to survive is already more kindness than they deserve.”

Felix could see that his sister intended to reclaim what was hers through her own strength. Choosing not to question her resolve, he replied quietly,

“I understand. I’ll let Terrance know you’re joining the company under the pretense of training. Does that sound good to you?”

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Rylie said, her voice steady with determination.

The unexpected shift in events reignited a spark of hope in Terrance. He struck the table with both hands, his eyes gleaming with sudden excitement.

“I knew it! They couldn’t handle the public backlash, so they’ve decided not to crush us completely. For now, I can set aside my desperate contingency plan.”

He turned toward his wife, who had rarely stepped outside in recent days.

“Laurel, get moving and secure Paola’s marriage arrangement. If it goes through, we might still—”

“Have a chance.” Laurel pressed her fingers to her temples, her expression tight with tension. “Rylie wants to join Detour Inc.? Doesn’t that sound all too familiar to you? It’s the same scheme she used when Elegance collapsed!”

Laura had originally arranged for Rylie to work at Sweetberry, believing it would keep her unnoticed. Yet despite Rylie’s lack of design talent, she gathered a team of capable individuals, revived Sweetberry, and brought Elegance’s reputation to ruin—the very achievement Laurel had devoted her life to.

“Terrance, if Rylie joins Detour Inc. only to bring us down, how is that any different from what she did before?”

Terrance replied, “You think I don’t understand what you’re implying? But Detour Inc. is her parents’ legacy. Do you honestly believe she would destroy the last thing they left her?”

Laurel grasped the point, and a faint spark of hope stirred within her.

With Sweetberry’s corporate retreat drawing near, Rylie first needed to visit Detour Inc. to determine where she could learn and contribute.

It was a rare opportunity to meet Brad, who had been consumed by the ten-billion-dollar order and could only spare time for her today.

They brought along some food and took a leisurely boat ride across the lake within the Owen family estate.

The small white boat drifted smoothly over the still water. Once they were settled, Brad set down the oars, moved to sit beside Rylie, and handed her a folder tied with a pink ribbon.

Rylie studied the delicate ribbon.

“A present?”

“I saw your family’s recent announcements,” Brad said. “I thought you might want to handle Detour Inc. on your own. Everything you’ll need is inside.”

Rylie handed him a small box.
