---- Chapter 117 Zelda was carefully wiping the tears from Ethan's face when she heard a sound. She turned around and saw Jenna, who looked anxious. "Ms. Sanders, you're here. Oh dear, I was so focused on calming Ethan down, I forgot to let you know that he's already asleep." Zelda stood up and gently stepped out of Ethan's room, closing the door behind her. The room could be seen through the small glass pane on the door, bathed in the soft glow ofa nightlight.

Ethan's sleeping face looked peaceful. Jenna's expression shifted slightly as she looked inside. She frowned and asked, "When did he fall asleep?" Zelda gestured for her to be quiet and led her to the stairway before speaking. "It's been about 20 minutes. I'm sorry you made the trip for nothing, Ms. Sanders." Although the words sounded apologetic, Jenna couldn't find a trace of guilt on Zelda's face. After a long pause, Jenna forced the words out. "Are you messing with me?" Zelda was shocked.

"Ms. Sanders , how could you say that? I called you earlier , and Mr. Frank was also aware of it. I was worried you might be driving, and it wouldn't be safe to answer the phone, so I didn't call again." ---- Jenna let out a furious, incredulous laugh. "You're in cahoots with Wendy! You care so much about Ethan and can't stand me. If not, why didn't you call Wendy instead of me?" Zelda looked genuinely confused. "Ms. Sanders, aren't you the one who cares the most about Ethan right now?

You're the one who's always with him. It's only natural he depends on you. "and after Mrs. Frank divorced Mr. Frank, didn't you tell Ethan that as his stepmother, you'd treat him even better than his biological mom?" Jenna snapped. "Shut up! Who the hell wants to be his stepmom?" The entire hallway fell silent upon her words. Zelda stared at her, shock written all over her face. "So that's how you really feel. What if Mr. Frank finds out?" Jenna sneered. "How could I possibly let James know?

You just need to keep your mouth shut." With that, she flicked her long hair over her shoulder and shot Zelda a warning look. But before she could say another word, James said coldly behind her, "It's late. You should head back." James was standing behind Jenna without her even realizing when he'd arrived. His tone was distant and frosty, leaving no room for warmth.

---- "J-James, when did you get here?" Jenna spun around ina panic, her face flashing with guilt when she caught sight of James stepping out from the shadows. He didn't answer her. Instead, he turned to Zelda and instructed, "See her out." Jenna immediately approached him. "What if Ethan has another nightmare? James, why don't you allow me to stay at the villa tonight? I'll accompany him." A flattering smile tugged at her lips, her eyes red-rimmed.

She looked exhausted, gazing up at James with a pleading look. "No need. Zelda's here." James was unmoved and simply glanced at her indifferently. The implication was clear. There was no need for her to stay, as Zelda was enough. Did James truly believe that Jenna was less important than Zelda? This thought flashed through Jenna's mind, sending a wave of panic surging through her. She didn't know whether James had heard what she said earlier, but she had to prepare for the worst.

Zelda stepped forward politely. "Ms. Sanders, let me walk you to the door." Jenna shook her head and took a few quick steps after James. Even if Ihave to sleep on the couch, or just outside Ethan's room, I can't bear to see him frightened by nightmares again." ---- Her words were heartfelt, and her voice trembled slightly with emotion. James furrowed his brows slightly as he fixed his gaze on Jenna, his eyes betraying a hint of doubt.
