---- Chapter 186 Wendy walked into the elevator and called the doorman. "I'm already home. Are you guys coming over now? " The doorman's voice was tinged with confusion as he asked, " Ms. Sander, do you need anything?" Wendy frowned. "Didn't you guys say that my house might be on fire and that you needed to check on it?" The doorman was still confused. "No? We've already patrolled twice tonight and didn't see any traces ofa fire.

If your house is on fire, we can help you call for the fire department." She stiffened . "Can you take responsibility for what you're saying?" "Of course. Doormen need to make a report before they contact a homeowner. I've got no records of a doorman calling you, and no one recalls calling you either." Wendy stared at the floor numbers that kept increasing. A thought suddenly flashed through her head. She paused for a moment. Margaret was doing fine, but something suddenly happened to her.

Then, she received a call from the doorman. Something about this felt fishy. Wendy was Margaret's attending physician. If anything happened, the hospital would call her and not Liam. ---- On the other hand, Liam was the homeowner of this house. If the doorman contacted someone , it would be Liam and not her. "Hello? Ms. Sanders? Are you still there?" The doorman's voice rang out.

"Do you need us to call the police?" The doorman's voice wasn't the same as the one who had called her just now, either. Wendy pursed her lips tightly as she watched the floor number approach her house's level. Her anxiety spiked suddenly. "Call the police!" she shouted. She snapped back into reality and began to press the floor buttons. She wanted to leave before the elevator reached her floor. However, things didn't turn out the way she hoped. The elevator stopped at her floor.

The call suddenly ended with a beep. Wendy looked at the bright hallway outside of the elevator, and her heart began to pound rapidly. Someone purposely made her split up with Liam so she would return alone! She gripped her phone tightly and leaned against the walls of the elevator. She wanted to make a call to ask for help. But the signal in the elevator was too weak, and she couldn't ---- make a call. She could only press the emergency button in the elevator.

Wendy frowned as she looked out of the elevator. She hada feeling that if she left the elevator, she would be caught by someone hiding in the shadows. But no matter how she racked her brain, Wendy couldn't think of who would come up with such a plan to ensnare her. She hesitated but still pressed the emergency button. The elevator door suddenly began to close slowly, and Wendy's panic was momentarily soothed.

As long as she could leave this place and get to the security and the doorman, she would be safe. The delevator doors were about to close when suddenly , the heavy doors opened again. Wendy stared out of the doors with a fearful gaze. Someone was pressing the buttons outside of the elevator to prevent it from working normally. "Who is it?" Wendy screamed loudly, trying hard to suppress her fear as she pressed the emergency button with her finger.

No one replied from the brightness , and a feeling of despair pressed down on her. Wendy's breathing became uneven. She stared at her phone and the elevator's emergency screen, fear pumping through her.
