---- Chapter 197 The shopkeepers never received a reply from Liam. They only heard the sound of the luxury car's engine revving before it disappeared into the rain. "What is happening tonight?" The shopkeepers in the convenience store bemoaned. Suddenly , someone pointed at the corner of the surveillance footage and shouted, "This is the woman they're looking for, right?" It was already the end of spring, but the rain at night still chilled people to the bone.

Wendy gradually woke up and found herself lying down in the backseat . She realized they had given up on using drugs on her. Instead, the man in the passenger seat held a glimmering blade that pointed toward her. Her eyelids were heavy on her eyes, and she could only occasionally open her eyes for a look. The kidnapper's ferocious gaze was filled with murderous intent. In the dark, that gaze struck fear in her heart. She knew that she had already missed out on the best chance to escape.

Malcolm spat and said, "I can't believe we let a bitch trick us ---- today." Hudson shook his head. "The bitch is smart. She's a doctor after all." "So what? Only death awaits her. Initially, I was going to grant her a painless death. No, I must torture her until she dies!" Malcolm yelled out between gritted teeth. His gaze was pinned unblinkingly on the unmoving Wendy. "T don't even want to do anything to her anymore. You're right, Malcolm.

To save us the worry, we should kill her quickly and leave," Hudson said in a worried voice. After all, the police had begun to search for them. The journey was smooth as they sped through the highway in the night. Eventually, the car began to slow. Wendy heard them talk angrily. She could no longer tell where she was, nor could she figure out which direction they were going. The car began to jostle. At a sharp turn, she almost fell off the backseat.

Clearly, they weren't on the highway anymore. On both sides of the car, tall grass almost completely covered the dim light from outside the window. Wendy couldn't stop her tears from sliding down her cheeks. The further they went, the closer to danger she was. It would be even more difficult for her to escape now. ---- She bit down on her lip hard and didn't stop, even when her skin tore. She had to stay clear -headed and calm. She couldn't let her fear rattle her.

The car jostled even more, and the front of the car tilted up. They seemed to be on a bumpy mountain road. Wendy panted hard. The rain outside was less intense now, so she stared at the scenery, trying to figure out where she was. Malcolm noticed her movements. "Don't move around. Don't get any funny ideas either. I'm telling you, if you dare to escape again, I'll break your legs!" Wendy didn't speak. She simply continued to observe the situation outside.

Very quickly, they drove the car to a flat area. She could no longer clearly hear the sound of rain pattering on the car. Instead, there was only the sound of tree leaves rustling. "It's just ahead. Why is there no one? Did they go to the wrong spot?" Hudson asked worriedly. Malcolm shook his head. "No. They just sent a message saying they will arrive in ten minutes. Let's just wait. Ten minutes won't change anything." The car came to a stop. Wendy heard them talk and pushed open the car door.

Then, both men walked toward the backseat and dragged her ---- out of the car. Her body fell heavily onto the ground. However , she didn't feel much pain -the pain in her arms and ankles hurt more. Wendy was dragged into a wooden cabin and thrown into a corner.
