---- Chapter 205 Once the vehicle drove off, James finally went over to the police. "These two are the kidnappers." The police had already taken them into custody and tossed them into another ambulance. One of the officers gave James a skeptical look. "They were about to attack. I arrived just in time and took them down." He made it sound easy, as if he hadn't noticed the blood covering nearly the entire ground. But that blood didn't all come from Wendy.
As tension hung in the air, Leon Merrick-the one leading the team-walked over. "We'll deal with the rest later. Leave a unit here to search the area. Make sure no one slips through. Also, send someone to drive Dr. Harrison's car back." Once the scene was secured, James got into his car and followed the police vehicles down the hill. The rain finally stopped about 30 minutes later. Wendy had been rushed to the hospital with Liam at her side. Officers stood guard outside her room.
The once-quiet hospital began to stir as dawn approached. Seeing the police here, people in the corridors started ---- whispering. "Theard she was a victim of domestic abuse. She was sent in last night and almost didn't make it." "No, I heard she was followed by a criminal." "You're both wrong. I heard Lily say she was kidnapped. That's Dr. Sanders in there!" As speculation filled the hallway, security came to clear the crowd. Yara arrived while Wendy was still unconscious.
She was out of danger, but the attending doctor, Aziel Virelli, explained , "Dr. Sanders may be in a dissociative state. She's physically stable, but she's not mentally ready to wake up. Having someone close speak to her and help ground her in reality would help." Yara nodded. "I know what to do." She then turned to Liam. Hearing the conversation , Liam moved closer, sitting by the bed and holding Wendy's hand. "You're safe now, Wendy, Please wake up.
We can't bring those people to justice until you do." But Wendy didn't respond at all. Yara frowned. "This won't work. Dr. Harrison, stay here with her. I'll come up with something." ---- Liam sighed. "Thank you." After she left, Liam stared at Wendy, his usually calm and composed eyes filled with worry. "Please wake up soon, Wendy." He was normally reserved and distant, but he was now completely overwhelmed by anxiety. His voice trembled uncontrollably as he spoke.
Meanwhile, at the police station , James dozed off in his seat as daylight began to seep through the windows. Through the haze of sleep, he heard voices. "Mr. Frank, there's nothing else we need from you for now. If anything comes up, we'll be in touch." Leon stood in front of him, giving his shoulder a reassuring pat. "Mr. Frank?" James hadn't slept all night and fought off two armed criminals bare-handed. His body was utterly drained.
He'd only been sitting there for 20 minutes, yet he'd already drifted through countless dreams. He jerked awake, eyes wide. "Did they say who hired them?"
