---- Chapter 234 Wendy's face darkened as she looked at James' mocking expression. Anger was bubbling up inside her. Liam couldn't bear to see her being smeared like this and tried to speak up, "Mr. Frank, maybe you should-" Before he could finish, Wendy grabbed his sleeve and pulled him behind her. She fixed James with a cold stare and said, "So what if it's true? I like him. What does that have to do with you?" James hissed through gritted teeth. "You've already cheated on me!

The reason why you want a divorce is so that you can smoothly move on with him, isn't it? Wendy, you're nothing but a schemer!" Liam's brow furrowed deeply, his eyes burning with anger as they stayed locked on Wendy. James' slick way of saying those things made it clear this wasn't the first time he had thrown insults at her like this. It was hard to imagine what kind of life Wendy had endured over six years by James' side at the Frank residence.

A faint, sarcastic smile appeared on Wendy's face. Her words were sharp as a blade as they hit James straight in the heart. " Yeah, you're right. So what? Before you talk about me, shouldn't you deal with your mess with Jenna? What right do you have to speak?" ---- Her words stunned both men into silence. James, blinded by rage, had bloodshot eyes and veins bulging on his forehead. Liam stared at Wendy's profile, lost in thought. Wendy lifted her chin defiantly and snorted coldly.

"James, since you know you're the third party here, why are you still clinging to this relationship?" The tone she used was unmistakably the same condescending one James usually used. James was speechless. However, Wendy didn't care. She didn't want to waste any more energy on him. It was pointless. Since the divorce couldn't happen right now, she might as well shatter his illusions completely.

She wanted him to clearly understand that divorce was the inevitable outcome, not some convenient tool he could control. Without giving James a chance to speak, she suddenly took Liam's hand, steadied herself on her cane, and turned to walk down the steps. They would be better off apart. In three months, she would be free for good. James wouldn't have any reason to claim she was just playing games with the divorce, and he wouldn't be able to force her back to the Frank residence.

Watching their hands clasped together, James grew so furious ---- he could barely contain himself. "Wendy, don't forget what you said today. You'll regret it!" His voice was loud and sharp, cutting through the air. Wendy was already seated in the car, but his harsh words still echoed in her ears. Only after the car started moving and they put distance between James did her lingering fear begin to fade. She glanced sideways at Liam. He had been silent for quite some time.

Wendy pressed her lips together and said sincerely, "I'm sorry. I was impulsive back there. I shouldn't have dragged you into this just to get away from James..." She remembered how just two weeks ago, she had been defending Liam fiercely against Julian and his group's slander. But today, James' words had nearly pushed her to lose control. She truly felt sorry for Liam. After a few seconds of silence , Liam finally spoke up coldly. " You really shouldn't have said those things."
