---- Chapter 245 "Now that I know it was your wife, next time-" Before the manager could finish, he was cut off. "Next time?" James shot him a cold glare. "You don't need to come in tomorrow." With that, James turned and walked away. He couldn't bear to imagine what might have happened if he had been a moment later, or if that man had already gotten into the room and done something to Wendy. At the thought of that, he frowned even more.
The manager was left standing there alone, staring at James' back with a look of utter despair. He was unable to say a single word. After along moment, once James' figure vanished from sight, the manager snapped back to reality and shakily pulled out his phone. "Mr. Jenkins, something huge has happened. Mr. Frank wants to fire me," he said anxiously, recounting what just happened as if he were complaining.
"I might not be able to keep working for you here." There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before a calm voice replied, "You don't have to go. Don't need to worry about this. Just come to work at the hotel as usual tomorrow." ---- "Is that okay? You know how decisive Mr. Frank is. He never shows any mercy..." "Just trust me." After the call ended, the manager stared at his phone, still shaken. But with Kyle Jenkins backing him up, he had no choice but to follow his orders.
Meanwhile , Jenna had just finished showering and lay down on her bed at the Sanders residence when her phone buzzed. "It's time to meet." 'The message came from an unknown number. It was just four short words, but her expression immediately changed. On high alert, she sat up straight and quickly replied, "Okay. Tell me the time and place." "Wait." That was all the response she received. Clutching her phone, a mix of worry and anticipation flickered across her face.
Night had fallen, and the lights in and around the Sanders residence were all off. Jenna was lying in bed, clutching her phone tightly with a ---- strange smile creeping onto her face. After Liam brought Wendy to the hospital, she was first given blood tests, then hooked up to an IV in the emergency room. Her mind was foggy, and she wasn't sure what was happening. She just knew she felt unbearably hot.
She kept trying to pull off her clothes, but a pair of hands gently kept putting them back on. She opened her eyes and saw a familiar, handsome face right in front of her. "Don't take your clothes off. You'll catch a cold." Liam looked a little helpless as he held her restless hands. "Once this IV finishes, you won't feel so hot anymore," he continued. Wendy bit her lip, struggling through the burning heat inside her chest, and nodded.
"Okay." She closed her eyes, hoping sleep would help her escape the discomfort and pain. Liam gently rested her head on his shoulder and softly said, " Get some rest. You'll feel better when you wake up." She mumbled softly in response and soon fell asleep. It wasn't until the early hours that she finally stopped scratching herself relentlessly. ---- Seeing her finally calm down, Liam breathed a sigh of relief.
He was exhausted and struggling to keep his eyes open, but he still asked a nurse to bring him a cup of coffee. He forced himself to stay awake, watching the IV drip all the way through before telling the nurse to remove it.
