---- Chapter 284 The incident lasted many hours. By the time Wendy and Liam returned home, it was already nighttime. The house was a mess. The paint on the floor was still sticky, its blood-red colour striking fear into people's hearts. Just seeing this scene made Wendy instinctively take a step backward. When he noticed her movement, Liam turned around and blocked her view of the paint. "Wait here for me. I'll get a change of clothes.

We're staying in a hotel tonight." Wendy nodded and looked away. She stood outside of the door, not daring to look at the pool of paint. All the horrible things she experienced had struck fear deep down within her. No matter how calm she was, she couldn't get rid of it. Liam quickly got the stuff they needed and got out of the house, shutting the door behind him. He entered the elevator holding a bag in one hand and Wendy's hand in the other. The hotel was right next to their residence.

They had gotten separate rooms, but after Liam showered and changed his clothes, he went into Wendy's room. She looked defeated when she opened the door. Pain flashed ---- through Liam's chest as he walked in with the food he ordered from the hotel. "You should eat something," he said. Liam saw that her clothes were still placed nicely on the bed. It was as if Wendy had done nothing since she came in except sit down. He looked at Wendy, who was slowly walking toward him.

He couldn't help but say, "If this goes on, you'll break down mentally." Wendy sat down stiffly on the chair. "It's fine. I just need to rest." She didn't look like she was fine at all. Liam crouched down in front of her and held her hand. "Don't worry, Wendy. This won't happen ever again. Can you trust me?" Wendy's eyes reddened. When she looked at Liam, tears quickly filled her eyes. Her voice trembled as she spoke. "Why me? Why do things like this always happen to me?

I didn't do anything wrong. Liam's breath caught in his throat. He felt so pained he couldn't speak. He said nothing, but Wendy kept on muttering. "T've already left the Frank family. Why are they still looking for me? I did my best to heal Ms. Hurst. There was only a ---- small issue that happened after the surgery , yet they acted like I'd killed someone..." Wendy's voice was filled with fear and anger. However, it was clear her fear overpowered her anger as she was trembling like a leaf.

"It's their fault. It's all their fault." Liam hugged her tightly. " It's not your fault, it's theirs. You did your best and shouldn't be hurt like this." Wendy buried her face in his shoulder and sobbed soundlessly. Her tears fell like a heavy downpour of rain. Liam stiffened when he felt the wetness on his shoulder. "I'm here for you, Wendy. I'll always be by your side," he comforted. His gentle voice that echoed around the dim room seemed to have a magical ability to calm Wendy.

Liam accompanied her throughout the whole night. The next day, Wendy followed Liam to the hospital. When Gregory saw her, he stiffened before frowning. Wendy began to explain herself. "Dr. Hendrix, I." Before she could finish her sentence , Gregory pulled her into an embrace. "You've been through so much, Wendy. Did you not sleep enough yesterday ? You don't look good. Get some ---- rest and let Liam and me handle the rest." His words surprised Wendy.
