---- Chapter 92 Robert's expression was serious as he stared at James, his gaze leaving no room for argument. James paused for a moment when he heard this. "You called me here just to talk about this?" "What else would I call you for? Do I have to be on my deathbed just to get you to show up?" Robert snapped, his anger confusing James. Just this morning, when Robert called from Frank Manor, everything seemed fine. James couldn't help but glance at Wendy, his gaze full of confusion.
Wendy was about to speak when Robert suddenly said, "I'm talking to you. Why are you looking at Wendy? Don't think she can cover for you!" James pressed his lips together and replied, "That's not what I meant. You can visit the company directly to see the projects or wait until I return to Frank Manor and bring you the copies. We're ina hospital -it's hard to explain everything right now. "It's hard to explain, or you just don't want to tell me?" Robert snorted. "I trained you myself.
Is there really something you can't explain?" James' expression darkened when he heard Robert's words. ---- "What exactly do you want to know? Just say it," James said. "'Bine."' Robert gripped Wendy's hand and glared at James. "I won't beat around the bush. Have the shareholders approved the project you're working on with the hospital?" James froze, looking at Robert and then at Wendy. "What nonsense did you feed Grandpa this time?" he questioned. "You're the one talking nonsense !
Wendy only tells me the truth. Don't talk to her like that in front of me!" Robert angrily slammed his hand on the armrest. He glared at James. "Tell me, is this project some kind of trap you specifically set up?" The accusation was so harsh that even Wendy was stunned momentarily . Glancing at Robert, she wanted to speak up in defense. However, James spoke first. "You can't just believe Wendy because of a few things she's said. A trap? That's too much." There was a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
Robert grabbed the cane next to his wheelchair and smacked it hard against James' leg. "If you speak like that again, don't call me 'Grandpa' anymore!" Every word from Robert was in defense of Wendy. James couldn't help but frown, "You can't treat Wendy like she's one of us just because she shares the same profession as ---- Grandma. Her last name is Sanders, not Frank. Have you forgotten why I married her?" "You..." Robert was so furious that his face turned a shade of scarlet.
"Fine, James..." Before he could finish, he suddenly began to gasp for air. Wendy immediately bent down, listening for his heartbeat and breathing. "Grandpa, don't get worked up. Take a deep breath and calm down," she urged. Under her calming touch, Robert quickly regained his composure. However, he felt dizzy and could not speak a complete sentence for a long while. He had a history of stroke, so Wendy grew worried that something might be wrong again and quickly called for a nurse and doctor.
Once Robert was settled in bed, Wendy and James were escorted out of the ward. The two of them glanced back at the door, and surprisingly , both stayed silent. After a long while, Wendy was pulled away toward the balcony. When she snapped back to her senses, she found herself standing at the edge of the hospital ward balcony. ---- Frowning, she asked, "James, what are you doing? Your grandfather's still in the hospital bed, yet you're not staying with him?" James tightened his grip on her arm.
"If anything happens to him, I won't let you off the hook." Wendy indeed triggered today's events-she knew Robert cared about her. Wendy stayed silent for a moment before looking at him. " You should say that to yourself." James' expression darkened further. "Don't take my tolerance for you as permission to do whatever you want. I've given you chances, and you'd better appreciate them. Your feelings for me aren't enough to bea shield."
